Running Back Depth

I think we will end up with :

1. Green
2. Dayne
3. Gado
4. Taylor (FB/HB)
PS Walker

yes that means lundy probably doesnt make the team. I really was never impressed with him last year. Maybe I'm wrong and he just needed more time and will show his stuff in TC/preseason, we will see. I think the 1 and 2 spots are locks and noone is gonna knock Dayne out of no.2. I think not because of just the Sherman connection but because of his overall skillset, Gado beats out lundy. Taylor stays on the team to prove he can hold onto the ball and serves at least half the season on probation as a backup FB for passing situations. I really think Gado has way more vision overal than lundy, lundy showed "times" where you thought he had it, then followed it up the next play plowing into his own lineman with a hole 3 feet away. Plain and simple, Gado hit the holes better and didnt over play the razzle dazzle like Lundy and Taylor. This is just my oppinon. I will say however if he can beat the fumble thing, Taylor has the most potential. I dont know enough about Walker and he is a rookie, nuff said.

I think the roster shakes out this way...

Green
Dayne
Walker

I think that the key battle will be the Lundy/Gado/Walker/Taylor duel. I think Green and Dayne are no brainers. Walker is a better receiver than all of the above and he gets the edge as the 3rd down back.....at least in July according to my perception.

Agreed that why earlier i thought Walker could make a bigger splash then the others IMO as well. Also think going undrafted should put a chip on his shoulders.

I agree he has been largely a bust looking at the body of his career. But, he started to come on some in Denver, and the second half of last year, he ran very well and with authority, and was punishing defenders, something I hadn't seen earlier in his career. He even broke tackles, something he rarely did earlier in his career. I'm not saying he is the second coming of Earl Campbell, but he certainly played well enough to be in the mix to be the primary backup RB on this team. And no way is he a cut candidate imo.

I think he was pretty well misused with the Giants and didn't have the Broadway mentality that i guess some thought a Heisman winner should have after setting an all-time record. I know people saw him at Wisconsin but i just don't think people saw how he got the yards. He's a one cut in between the tackle sort of runner that you got to feed the ball and he'll wear down defenses. Anyone notice later in the game he'd start getting yardage in chunks? He's not the homerun hitter type but i think had we hard a competant passing game we could've run some good play actions off of him. Still JMO though.

This is why the Green/ Dayne rotation may offer some very decent gains in second half. I take the alternative view that Taylor will come out strong. Sitting him should have stroked his competive fires. I'm just not a Gado fan maybe because his stats in last four games wera all over the place. This is the first year I have felt positive about our RBs after you get past the main guy.
