Round 1 Commentary Thread

didn't Leinarts agent promise him Top 2 money? He probably ends up at Arizona at 10.. probably not his first choice... or second..

Anyone think there might be an ESPN curse. They become the USC greatest team of all time network before the Rose Bowl, and they lose. Theyfollow Matt Leinart around like a puppy dog, and of couse as much as I wanted Bush they showed too much of him. Anyway they both drop on draft day.

Well, that was not a really big surprise for some of you guys but I kinda figured that Al would grab a QB. Huff was a good choice.

Can someone please explain why Casserly didn't trade down? If we were to have traded with the Jets for both of their first round picks we could have still gotten Williams or even Ferguson plus another pick. That would make total sense and it would have been easier to swallow rather than reaching for Williams and get nothing else.

Buffalo on the clock and their QB situation is up in the air...Do they take Leinart?

I'm guessing they take a DT, either Bunkley or Ngata...

Leinart is hating life right about now -- would have been the number one pick with 2 national championships. If he somehow falls to Ariz. that might end up being the best thing that could happen.

There have been no trades at all. The Jets were trying to lowball the Saints for Bush and they probably did same to us.

Big Ben ended up #10 at Pittsburgh and he is hands down the best QB in his class. Lienart may go at #10 and I feel he will be the best QB taken in this draft.

Because the Jets didn't want to trade with us.

In order to trade down, you have to have somebody that wants to trade with you...The Jets refused to give up their two firsts...

somewhere it was said that the Jets wouldn't part with those 2 picks even to N.O. (and bush was available) ..so they wouldn't trade with us then either

That's an easy one. Need to have someone that WANTS to trade with you to do a trade. No one wanted the 1st pick. Seems no one particularly wants to move up at all as there have been zero trades as of the 8th pick.

Big Ben was #11 (D-Rob was #10)...just a small correction, that's all.

Bills want Bunkley since they're running Cover 2 next year and Ngata might not fit in.

Unfortunately it is too soon to give up on Jp Losman. These teams have got to quit giving up on these young QB's so quickly. The Chargers did it with Brees and I think that may have played a factor in Manning telling SD not to draft him.

true.. it is bittersweet.. lower he goes the better team he has around him

Who could have seen that coming? I mean, they need secondary help but don't they need some more receiving weapons?

Why wouldn't the Lions take a quarterback?

That would be three receivers, a running back and two quarterbacks with their last 6 first-rounders...
Makes sense to someone, I guess... probably Millen.

Detroit is on the clock now...They were rumored to want Huff, but he's not available...

If they don't trade, they'll take take Sims...

Ernie sims hits Top 10 too..i think St. Louis is ecstatic that they get one of the 2 QB's at 11, and Arizona even more ecstatic that Leinart is there at 10.

Lions pick E. Sims.

If matt doesn't get the Cards, he better ask for that pillow.

Actually that wouldn't be too bad, Matt and Edge together....?
