The Colts were expecting to have linebacker Robert Mathis back in the lineup for their fifth game of the season, but the veterans absence is going to go on a lot longer than that.
Mathis tore his Achilles tendon while working out in Atlanta and wont return to the team at all this year. The Colts found out about the injury on Monday when Mathis, who is barred from communicating with anyone but Colts medical personnel during his suspension, called the head trainer with the bad news. He then passed the word on to coach Chuck Pagano and General Manager Ryan Grigson.
