Former Oilers linebacker Robert 'Dr. Doom' Brazile elected to Hall of Fame

Outside linebacker Robert Brazile became the fourth member of the Luv Ya Blue Oilers to be voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Brazile, nicknamed "Dr. Doom," was a senior nominee who was elected by the 47-member selection committee Saturday and introduced at the nationally televised NFL Honors Show at the University of Minnesota.

"This is the ultimate dream come true for Robert Brazile," Brazile said. "I've always loved this game of football. You know what football just told me tonight when I got that knock on the door? I love you back.

"I can't believe it. Words can't describe what I'm feeling right now. I wanted this so bad. To be able to share this honor with my family and friends is unbelievable.

"This means so much to me. I'm so happy because my parents will be able to share this experience with me."

I'm surprised nobody mentioned this in the forum. Huge congrats to Dr. Doom for a much deserved honor, and much respect for John McClain for promoting him year after year!!

Met Dr. Doom (and Billy White Shoes) in my teenage days. My mom worked at a place that sold spas, pools, etc. off W.Mt.Houston, and Oiler players were in there all the time.

Sad that it took so long for Brazile to get the recognition, but glad that a terrible wrong has finally been righted.

So does that close the book on Oilers and the HOF?

I'm having a helluva time trying to find a #52 Doom jersey to go with my Earl, Hakeem, Clyde, Nolan, Moon, and Jamie Sharper jerseys.

I found mine on ebay something like a year ago. It's an old Mitchell & Ness "oldstock" that was so big I could have used it for a bed spread. I didn't care though because I'd never seen one before. I bought it for next to nothing and when I got it I measured it and realized that all the important stuff like numbers, name plate, etc was the same distance apart as on my normal sized jerseys. Took it to Tran Tailors and they cut it down for me.

I just bought a Hall of Fame patch to add to it. More Brazile jerseys will come out around induction time. That's how I got my Curly Culp Oiler's jersey.

Who was the guy who let Robert know he has made the HOF?

I do believe this closes the books on the Oilers HOFer's

I was wondering the same, and I cannot think of any other Oilers that have been missed by the HoF.

Good to see Luv Ya Blue recognized one last time. Damn I miss that team.

Between Brazile's induction speech/highlights and whatever T.O. might say from his butthurt, this will be a HoF induction that I will actually watch. I'll just have to FF through Ray Lewis' dumbass little prance dance that he can't stop doing. That was just goofy seeing him in a suit doing it when he was announced. Like a freakin' peacock.

As I get older, fatter, and balder I keep thinking I need to get me a Toni Fritsch jersey made.

lol! That would be awesome! :thumbup

In Madden franchise mode, you can move any team to Houston and one of the options for a name change is the Oilers. So I took ownership of the Ravens (screw them!) and moved the franchise to Houston. I basically have the AFC Central without the Colts now. And with the graphic fidelity in modern Madden, it is really cool to play a game as the Houston Oilers vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers. Even the commentators say "Houston Oilers"! My kids think I'm nuts, but I'm just daydreaming in the past.
