Rice @ Houston!!!

Man, it's not easy to play defense for the Cougars the way we score so quickly!

The Owls continued to have the ball almost 2:1 in TOP

You know what's tough? Trying to help your ailing dad and UH grad (God Bless him) find the FSN channel over the phone.

Btw, why is FSN covering this? Has there been a coup d'état on that station?

Geeezus. 73-34

Well, I imagine you succeeded, didn't you?

FSN smells the greens, LOL!

The thing about a "gimmick QB" is you have to be good enough to make one humm. If you aren't a little something special 4th and 10 would look like a near miss compared to the 4th and 25 you would usually see.

*some sarcasm there, but not as much as one would think*

I feel your pain. I had to talk my Dad thru moving his favorites from one computer to another today. So tough to see them slipping. But so frustrating too.

It really is, Katie. While we're here and talking on it, I hope your dad many years. Bless our dads. :)

Go Ags and Coogs!

That's as real as life gets!
I went through a few different situations with my own, and the in-laws.
They are all tough!
All I can say is try to cherrish everything you have.

Daddy DeLoss says no thank you.

UH should be there. Absolutely.

Yes they should. They are better than WV and any of those other lame schools being tossed out there. U of H would be a force in the Big XII.

BTW, screw Dodds and whatever his reasons are. The Horns can hold their own no matter what he thinks. As a fan of Texas and the Coogs I really want to see this.

There was a board meeting scheduled by/for Houston today but I haven't heard anything on how that went. Probably a simple discussion on the move, don't know.

Do tell ... board meeting by who?

After I posted I visited the Chronicle's site and got this...

Regents grant UH authority for conference affiliation

By SAM KHAN JR., HOUSTON CHRONICLE
Published 07:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011

University of Houston Chancellor and President Renu Khator was granted authority to make decisions regarding the school's athletic conference affiliation during a board of regents meeting on Thursday at UH.

School officials did not publicly discuss any particular conferences. However, the school has interest and an invitation from the Big East Conference, which is looking to expand to 12 football-playing members.

"We certainly want to thank chairperson (Nelda Luce) Blair and the board of regents for their decision to grant our chancellor authority to make any decisions regarding conference membership, conference affiliation that are in the best interests of our student-athletes, staff, head coaches and our athletic department," UH athletic director Mack Rhoades said.

The timetable for when UH might take its next step in determining its conference future is unclear.

"We'll wait and see," Rhoades said.

Blair said Khator, along with Rhoades, will negotiate on UH's behalf for "the best terms she can get for a contract (with) a conference that has yet to be named."

The board officially granted Khator approval to "negotiate and execute a contract for athletic conference affiliation and to negotiate and provide notice of contract cancellation as necessary."

"This board is a very thoughtful board," Blair said. "We are very proud of our chancellor and we know that she has the great ability to do everything possible to send this university forward even more. As she said, we are a Tier One university, we plan to stay that way and we plan to grow even stronger and our athletics are a large part of that."

Once the meeting convened it was moved into an executive session for nearly 90 minutes.

"We don't have any followers on this board; they're all leaders," Blair said. "Every one of them has deep questions that they want to know how we're going to do this, what it's going to do to the university, that sort of thing. There aren't any real firm answers yet because contracts aren't fully negotiated but we at least got some parameters and the board was very satisfied to give that authority to Renu Khator."

UH is currently a member of Conference USA and is a charter member of the league. The Big East is looking to expand in an effort to retain its automatic-qualifying Bowl Championship Series status.

In addition to Houston, the Big East is reportedly interested in six schools including Air Force, Boise State, Central Florida, Navy and SMU are the others. At the moment, the league has six football-playing schools committed to the conference beyond this season. Big East commissioner John Marinatto said last week that the league's current members gave unanimous support for a 12-team football model.

As if, but the Big 12 is pretty much a fantasy at this point. I wish it weren't.

Yep, it shouldn't be. Maybe Dodds is worried that Houston would get too good. All of the other excuses as to why U of H shouldn't be the in the Big 12 are lame.

IMO the better the competition the better for everyone.

So just got off work lets just check the UH boxsc-

Just got back from the game. Boy, that was an incredible experience! Only my second game at Robertson. They said over the PA that it was the 4th highest attendance ever for UH! As a diehard Texas fan it is hard to say this, but the 32,000 at Robertson are wayyy louder than the 100,000+ at DKR. The Coogs have great fans.

The first quarter was sloppy as hell, with the monsoon coming down on top of us. If any of y'all were there you can attest to this, but I can tell you that I was not surprised by the Coogs offensive struggles early on. It was seriously like playing football in a hurricane with the way the wind and rain was.

Rice's offense is definitely better suited to those conditions. They ran the ball on 26 of their first 30 plays. I think that played a big part in them getting the early lead. Well that, and the fact that the Coogs defense couldn't seem to account for the QB on the option read. They got that figured out later in the game though.

Once the wind died down, Keenum heated up. There was a steady drizzle for the entire game, which makes Keenum and the WR's performance even more amazing. They were doing that in the rain fellas, just think what would have gone down if it had been dry out there.

And just for the record, the reason UH has not and probably will not be invited to the Big XII is because they will not add any money to the pie, but they will still get to take a slice. It's unfair, we all know it. But that's the way it is.

Hell of a game. My voice is gone and my notes from school barely survived the rain. I can't believe Keenum had 9 TDs, and Edwards 5 TDs.

Our defense really needs to step up. It's the second week in a row they got off to a really slow start.

It was awesome out there tonight. There are a lot of us long time die hard UH fans that get on a lot of the fan base for being ******* when it comes to the weather for games since we moved back to Robertson, but tonight the fans were into the game and loud and proud.

Keenum was amazing as usual tonight, and Edwards just keeps getting better it seems like. The Rice DC should be fired for having his guys try and play man to man against UH thats just asking to be abused.

The attendance record you heard is just for games at Robertson. They had games with much higher attendance during the dome and Rice stadium days.

A guy who played in the band told me that the band director said the Coogs are going to play at Reliant next year when Robertson is revamped.

How many games, I don't know.
And it's not official, I'll have to ask him to recheck on all this.

Heck, if the question is money, the Coogs can always rework the plan for the stadium, can't they?

Glad y'all have a great time and it's good to hear about the crowd noise.
I always lost my voice when I go to the game.

No doubt this is true, but we alll know there are more ^%$#-made reasons why they wont bring UH into the big 12...

That was crazy. A lot of the time they were playing press coverage with no safety over the top. You would think that after 4 or 5 TDs they might change their strategy, but no they just kept right at it.

I feel sorry for their DBs. They were given an almost impossible job to perform, and their coaches' gameplan made a bad situation even worse.

I watched the 2nd quarter of the replay when I got home last night and the commentators were commenting on this as well. There was one play and they had a safety matched up one on one with Patrick Edwards. There isn't a corner in this conference who could cover him man on man and you got a safety?

My voice is toast today too. I have 2 days to get it back for Sunday.
