Thanks for your support! 🍺😎👍
Dammit! I'm not subscribed to ESPN U. Thanks for the heads-up though. Will you please let me know your opinions on how our guys played? Thank you.
You can actually watch the entire game online here:
Fed Ex Orange Bowl 2008
Background:
VT (#5) 3 pt favorite over KS (#8)
KS was ranked #2 in week 12
Both have good offense, moreso for KS
VT supposedly have better ST and D.
KS QB Reesing (5'11) is a little bugger who can make things go.
And Aqib Talib surely can do everything, one of those guys who can play all-way in the old days.
The tandem VT QBs Glennon and Taylor (a FR) both have been inconsistent. Glennon with more experience but Taylor has better wheels.
One week before the game, it was announced that starting RB Brandon Ore will be suspended by the team for the first quarter for showing up late at the final pre-bowl practice.
(Ore was having problems during the year, on and off the field. He was finally kicked off the team this Spring. Wasted talent!)
The only complaint I have about Adibi is that he let either a TE or a lineman holding on to him 3 or 4 times in that game.Certaintly didn't look Brown got "abused". He actually looked decent IMO. He had a bit of a natsy edge which was a welcome sight.
Adibi was pretty good, paticularly in coverage.
Overall, very excited about our VT picks.
The only complaint I have about Adibi is that he let either a TE or a lineman holding on to him 3 or 4 times in that game.
He's not strong enough, so he needs to use his quickness to get away from them sooner. If he gets tangled up with them, it's difficult for him to win that battle.
I like Ben Moffitt in this affect better.
By the way, Brown also looked good against Chris Long.
He won most of the battles (some of them pretty intense.)
Long did get the best of Brown a couple of times, but in similar situations as in this bowl game.
I said Brown won that match up by all counts!![]()
I've already reprted that Brown won the battles against Merling (Clemson), as well as Gaine Adams (the year before).
Can you break down some plays in both games. In general, the offensive lineman will "win the battles" by accounts like yours because he did not give up a sack or a QB pressure. DE's don't alway pin their ears back. They cover the flats, stunt, fill a run gap, and stay home for backside pursuit against teams with a running QB.
Even at that, the best DE's in the world can go an entire game without recording a sack, and people will say the OT won the battle. That is BS. Long clearly won the battle against Brown, and to say otherwise is absurd. Long had his way. The Kansas DE's in the bowl game didn't even have double digit sacks between them during the regular season I believe, so they weren't a Chris Long or Gaines Adams. Brown looked confused and overwhelmed, and at times, just out-matched. That does not constitute winning a battle.
Still, I support him fully now as a Texan, and I hope for the best.

When did he look confused and overwhelmed in the KS game?
When did Long have his way, when did Brown look overmatched?
I have the game film here. We can exchange ideas.
Don't want to look like I'm bailing on you, but I have to run. I would actually enjoy this, we can exchange PM's, but for today I have to go. I'm helping put on a youth event for inner-city kids, and today is the last day. It's called Spamarama. We have a lock-in tonight for the kids at either first or second baptist church. Anyway, I'll watch the game again tomorrow, trust me, that won't ever get old, and we can go from there once I wake up.
