Remember when a Rookie QB and also a USC grad came to Houston on the season opener and beat the Texans ?

And maybe strangest of all is that former Texans LB Brian Cushing and Sanchez were rommats at USC.
But this is proof positive that rookie QBs can beat you in your house.
I guarantee you Demeco remembrs that game !

I am having a good day. Don't mess it up.

If there's any consolation, that ended up being the Texans most successful season up until that point.

And not saying that it can't happen with Demeco, but it's a whole lot more likely that a rookie qb will come into your house and beat you if Frank Bush is your Defensive Coordinator.

And just to come full circle, oddly enough, we'll be playing against Bush this year....He's the Titans LB coach.

Don't mean to spoil your day BB, but this is I suppose the proverbial cautionary tale of perhaps underrateing or under preparing for your opponent but I don't think Demeco will let that happen.
Anyway should such a surprising event as a Texans loss happen tomorrow it would immediately suspend any ideas or thoughts of the Texans being serious contenders or even contenders to be even be contenders.

I mean even the best teams lose games they shouldn't sometimes. It's not Texas vs UTSA where one team is extremely outmatched, these are two pro teams.

Yeah I get you but agree with @IDEXAN if Bears win, I ain't gonna be happy. We need a signature win to add more confidence to our players. I want to set that Winners mentality early this year.

That's nice and all but you can't just say oh we lost to the bears now our season is down the drain and we're pretenders. This isn't how it works lmao

Yeah, that Texans team that lost to the Jets had recently been throwing parades and unveiling banners in celebration of 8-8 seasons. This team is different, if they were to lose there would be work to do but they’d move forward from it.

By the same measure, you aren’t going to look back on a win against a decent Bears team with a rookie QB who struggled week.1 as any kind of signature win, it’s just another 1 to put on the board and they need to put it in the W column and keep rolling.

I would equate a loss to the Bears as akin to last years loss to the Panthers. Unnecessary loss, but it wouldn't decide our season nor our making noise in the playoffs. The only thing it would do is drop us a few pegs in the eyes of the national media and fans outside of Texas since it is prime time.

Go to the extreme much? I did not say that. But every one of us expects Houston to beat the Bears

Does anyone here remember a season where the Texans won every game they were supposed to win and only lost the games they were supposed to lose?

I didn’t think so. Every year they lose one that was a likely win, and win a game few believed they could win.
As is the case for basically every single NFL team

I hope this will be the last “Remember that time the Texans got their arse kicked?” thread. Because I think everyone can remember those. But no one really wants to.
For me the irony was just too obvious to pass up because I'd venture a guess that another NFL team has never lost their season opener to a freaking rookie QB so as I indicated it would be way too much if lighting were to strike twice with another rookie from the same college.
Fortunately for our Texans it didn't happen even though the ending and margin of victory were uncomfortably close.

I can certainly think of another time where an NFL team lost their season opener to a freaking rookie QB..

I'm not sure why I know this, but the Vikings, QBed by rookie Fran Tarkington, won the inaugural game of the franchise vs the Bears.

John Elway "won" his first start, though he was benched for Steve DeBerg.

Tom Brady won his first start, vs Peyton Manning & the Colts, but it was in his 2nd season.

Roger Staubach won in his first start in his first game at age 27. He didn't start another game until the following season.
