Reggie Bush

You people are crazy to think that the Texans shouldn't take him with the first pick. He is such a game breaker, that even if he isn't a 20 to 25 time a carry running back, he will impact the offense so much that we will be one of the highest rated offences in the NFL.

He is a once in a decade type player. There is no denying him that .

I have heard him compared to Rocket Ishmael and Desmond Howard, but this guy doesn't only have staight line speed, he can make people miss that I haven't seen like Barry Sanders.

The fans of Houston should be behind this guy and realize the talent that possesses. No knock to AJ Hawk, Mario William, or V. Young, but this guys is also great and has the potential to be a superstar in the NFL.

NO. He was a good college player. Once in a decade? Before he has even taken a snap? You give players accolades like that AFTER they have a hall of fame career like barry sanders, not before they even get drafted. Ki-jana Carter was supposed to be revolutionary.

Well said :ok: .... Lets wait till he actually plays in the league:cool:

Ki-Jana Carter may have very well been a revolution if he didnt get injured. its an irrelevant point because of that. ANY player we draft has the potential for injuries.

I take it he means based on thier potential coming into the league. His potential is through the roof. Nobody ever knows until the player actually plays how he will perform, but he is "expected" to be a once in a decade player. I am now 100% totally convinced he is our man if we stay at #1, which I feel is very likely.

Im pretty sure he is talking about potential. Not that he is a guaranteed to be great.

I'll say this, all the guys in your last paragraph has the same superstar potential as Bush. So that's neither here or there. I heard CC say something the other week that made a bunch of sense (yeah I know it's a first time for everything) about Reggie Bush. He made a reference about Randy Moss. Knowing what you know about Moss and his explosiveness when he gets the ball would you take him #1? Take in mind that he is a WR and doesn't get the ball alot. I thought that was a fair comparison (just on the explosiveness basis). His agrument was based upon hindsight but I understood the point.

Now that we signed Weaver to play LDE, I expect us to draft Bush 1st and an OT with our 2nd. With our two 3rd's, I think we plan on taking a MLB and TE (unless we sign one of these two). I think we still plan on signing an OG (RG) and WR.

This is so utterly hypocritical ...

So Bush's pro day is April 2nd if memory serves ..... assuming he's running the 40, what time does he need to run to keep the Vince-o-manics from going bananas?

IMO anything slower than 4.3 and he's longhorn bait ...

Simply odds. Average lifespan of an NFL player is 4 years. Carr is living on borrowed time with a team that does not have a lot of cap space left to fill immediate needs that will help rise his level of play. Young will most likley go to a team that will make him hold the clip board for at least a year and allow him to see the game at a much slower speed.

Not crazy to do what you feel is best for team.
Having an explosive player who can score EVERYTIME he touches the ball can also be the best thing for the team. If Texans score more often because of Bush this can have as much if not more effect than 2-3 good prospects.

Bush can fill need as WR
Bush can split time with DD making him more durable and rested
Bush can force LB to stay back and shadow him, this
> helps Carr from getting sacked on blitz
> help O-line in protection skeams
Bush can help Def. by out scoring other teams and staying off field
Bush can help D-line by allowing them to bull rush when other team has to put points on the board.
Bush helps D-back get more int's by forcing offense to throw more often
Bush can return punts if needed.

I don't think that these things will happen right away if ever, but only 1 prospect in this draft has this potential.

After alot of thought I now think Bush would be the best use of #1 pick and (as season ticket holder) the most fun to watch over his career. (re: Yao Ming)

How about the same post touting each.

Bushbacker, "Bush is lightning fast."
Youngster, "Young finds a way to win."

Bushbacker, "Young cannot run a pro style offense."
Youngster, "Bush cannot be an every down back."

Bushbacker, "Tastes Great!"
Youngster, "Less Filling!"

Bushbacker, "Tastes Great."
Youngster, "Less Filling."

Bushbacker, "Lets go drink some beers."
Youngster, "Sounds like a plan."

Check this out for those who did not know this already. I will not reveal my source because I think he is a moron. But......The University of Southern California ran the exact same offense as the Denver Broncos did. Which means that Reggie Bush will have no changes to be needed when it comes to learning a new offense. For those of you who do not know the type of offense, it is alot of cut backs for the running back. That is where the line zone blocks one direction and Reggie looks for a hole to cut back into, and then he is gone. Im not saying the he will not need to ajust to the speed of the NFL, because he will, but he will not need to ajust his playing style. In a coaches and GM's mind, it saves time and money. By the way, my source on this is on regularly on 610 AM.

I was a little roasted last night when I posted this. There are several ways to view the number 1 pick in the draft. With everything being said, Bush will be the #1 pick in the draft, whether we take him, or someone trades up to get him, is to be seen.
Also correctly stated above, he is a fantastic college player, as with Vince and the others. Will that translate in the Pros, who knows. That's why Casserly and most other GM's agree, you address your team's needs through free agency, and select the best players available in the draft.
In my opinion, Bush is our pick at number 1, and rightfully so. I am very impressed with his college career and am excited with his pro potential.
Just so you guys who like to turn everything into a V. Young debate, I'm the biggest Longhorn fan you'll find. Young had an incredible season, and is a very rare athlete. However, I remember about half way through last year everybody jumping up and down that he should be moved to Receiver. It's a testiment to the hard work that he has put in, which is well documented, that he has progressed as much as he has. He is a winner, but he will need the right OC in the pros to correctly utilize is abilities, in order for him to succeed. I think that if he is put into the right situation, he will have a good career, however I feel that the balance with him is very delicate, and with the wrong OC, he will be a disaster.
My post wasn't, nor is it, to try to say that Young wasn't any good nor worthy of a high pick, rather than to express my view point that Bush is that good.

How many needs do you think we'll have by the time we hit the draft. We've taken care of DE with the addition of Weaver, added depth at QB and FB two days into FA. We are looking at Flannagan, help at the o-line. Givens a #2 receiver, and Putzier is scheduled for next week helping out at TE. I don't think we'll land givens so I'll include #2 receiver for now. Here are our needs.

LBs Inside preferrably
#2 receiver
umm that would be it really, all the other positions we got filled. Upgrades and depth always help, but those would be our biggest needs. Maybe I'm missing something but tell me how off I am in my assesment.

Inside Linebacker is our biggest need. We really lost that presence with Sharper being let go. That would go a long ways in helping our run support.

I totally agree, but I don't think we'll trade down for that position. What do you think of Hodge or Jackson in the second. I think these two guys would make a good impact. Oh and about Bush I hope we get him as well. I really don't see us trading down anymore.

My target would be Ahmad Brooks in the supplemental draft. From everything that I here, this guy is the real deal and is closely rated to AJ Hawk.
