NFL | Bush ready for Pro Day; ready to be first overall draft pick
Sat, 1 Apr 2006 17:18:56 -0800

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports USC RB Reggie Bush is ready for his Pro Day workout Sunday, April 2. Bush said he will perform these drills: the 40-yard dash, the vertical jump and the standard 225-pound bench press. He laughed when asked to predict a 40-yard time, then declined, saying only that he wants to run "really fast." He did however, make a friendly steak-dinner wager with a reporter as to whether he can hit 40 inches in the vertical jump. On the field, he will do all the running back drills, run-pass routes, and catch passes from USC QB Matt Leinart. No matter how impressed the scouts from the 32 teams are, Bush figures to be off the board on the first selection. "I just feel like I'm the guy, the No. 1 pick, no doubt in my mind," Bush said. "I'm 100 percent confident. And on Sunday, I plan to go out and seal the deal."

Maybe Bush can moonlight as a nickel corner. You know he wouldn't have made that bet if he didn't know he was getting a free steak dinner off of the deal.

Is there going to be footage of this on NFL Network?

If so, when? What time?

Gotta love his confidence and attitude going into his pro day.

These guys are all coached on what to say by their agents. VY did it and so now will RB. However, what they do on the field is what answers the questions. Hope he has a good day like VY had. I would hope the decision comes down to what they both did, not because one had a bad day.

ima try to see what gm and or coaches are talking to charley and any other Texans Reps. Migt other teams try to deal for D. Davis at the USC Pro day if Reggie Bush and have outstanding work out, and everyone know's he'll be a lock if he do? All 32 teams will be there.

Agreed. It should come down to their measurables and their total body of work; not because of one bad day and by the same token, not because of one particularly good day either.

I honestly feel the decision (at least regarding Vince) has already been made, and like most I think it's either Bush or trade down, with the smart money on Bush.

We'll know more by this time tomorrow, and the wait will be an hour shorter (at least in CA) due to daylight savings time. Which I hate. I used to live in Arizona and they don't do anything to their clocks twice a year. They call it "Arizona Time" and it seems to work just fine. They find other ways to determine when to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.

Plus everyone's armed in Arizona, legally. Here in California everyone's armed, sneakily.

I miss the simple life.

I got my Draft Insiders Yearbook for the NFL Draft 2006 today and Frank Coyle has Bush listed at 4.4 in the 40. Lets see how close he is. I think Bush will run under that myself. I was actually kind of disappointed that the draft guide came today before the USC pro day. I know Kiper always waits until all pro days are done before his guide is sent. I'm not sure about Ourlads. I have all 3 draft guides coming this year due to 4 high picks on the first day. Gotta love the draft. Party time!:yahoo:

Yea, cuz we all know that Reggie Bush played HORRIBLE that day! Not. There was a combination of things that led to an unexpected Texas victory. VY was part of that unpredicted success, granted. But don't say Reggie didn't have his gameface on that day. The only play that he would take back is that attempted toss after he had broken some 40 yards. It was a rookie mistake, foolhardy. But had it worked, everyone would think Reggie bush was the one who can eat soup with a fork!

Haha. No excuses, he will be a rookie and he will make mistakes. But he will harden in the first season, unlike a VY who would require years of sideline observation. The mistakes that a QB makes are much more critical than that of a RB. If Reggie doesn't see an open lane, hesitates, or runs a wrong route... these are things that will at WORST lose a couple of yards. A mistake by VY would be.... take a quick look downfield, see no one open, and hit the ground running. The problem with this philosophy in the NFL is.... you are in the NFL! The little college kids have been set aside, and the ones who made it pro are those who are HUGE, FAST, and can HIT. These are the enemy of the oh-so-versatile VY, your black knight on a burnt orange steed! I do not wish injury upon the young man, but if he plays like he did in NCAA, he is going to take a beating. And trust me... every Defensive player likes to beat up the QB. No doubt.

Well, if your little "cardinal and mustard colored acorn" plays the way he did while he was in the ROSE BOWL/NCAA..........not only will he take a beating........but he most likely will indeed end up PUSHING UP DAISIES......
