Redskins @ Jaguars

Hopefully it's just an ankle so that he'll be out a few weeks. Well, I think Cousins is going to secure that job by the time he returns. He just looks like a better QB.

EDIT: Should add, that RG3 his rookie year was amazing. But Dual threats QBs seem to get hurt a lot and diminish more quickly.

Always makes me laugh when people come in and say that dual threats are the future and pocket passers are going the way of the dinosaur.

Dual threat QBs are nice, but you better have two.

I haven't seen the injury play. A report says that he was taken off on cart wearing an air cast. Were they referring to an inflatable air cast or a solid brace made by AirCast. Was this on his ankle or knee??

Don't know the kind of air cast it was, but it was on his ankle.

Obviously his left lower limb.

This is the type of air inflatable splint you see in a fracture (usually of the leg).

The way he fell, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't fracture his lower fibula with some ankle ligamanent damage. I suspect he will likely be out for at least 6-8 weeks.

Hope the Baylor kid is okay.
meanwhile, I need to shop for a new starter
:)

RGIII has shown signs of instability ever since his 2nd ACL surgery and has not ever returned to his pre-injury level of performance. Protective mechanics have been thus compromised and probably contributed to this injury. He was interviewed and said that when he planted, his left ankle got caught in the FedEx Field turf.

He is to have an MRI tomorrow at 10 AM......and the same Dr. Andrews that allowed RGIII back into the game with a rubber knee that went on to ACL rupture........is the one treating him for this injury. If the MRI shows the type of damage that will require surgery rather than a longer-term conservative boot casting, I believe safe return to play will likely require more than 4 months.

No matter what, once an ankle is dislocated, it universally becomes unstable to some degree and is high risk for re-dislocation (even with relatively minor stresses placed on the ankle joint) which would then mandate surgical repair to re-establish stability.

sounds like you are saying RGIII's career is over.

I'm just glad RGIII didn't get hurt against us. Could have been a game changer.

I'm interested to see Cousins next week after a defense (Philadelphia, I see) has had time to get ready for HIM instead of RGIII.

I had RGIII as one of my FFL QBs (not the Vinny one) and as SOON as he went down, I put my waiver claim in for Cousins. :D
It won't take affect until claims are processed by CBS Sports on Weds. a.m. but I know my league. Those #$#%$# will snatch him just to keep me from getting him.
LOL

David J. Chao, MD ‏@ProFootballDoc

Seems like most all of the media reports are for 4-6 weeks. Apparently both Dr. Chao and I (previous post) agree that it will be closer to 6-8 weeks........if everything goes well. He will remain a significant re-dislocation risk thereafter.

Not that I think Redskins are that great of a team, but RGIII could permanently lose his job in 8 weeks.

I'm going through something similar right now. I rolled mine the opposite direction RGIII did. Mine wasn't dislocated, so it's not quite as bad. The doc gave mine a high grade 2 sprain. Plus, I have 3 nondisplaced fractures. It could've been worse, but no surgery for me. I'm off the crutches after 2 weeks and have another 4-6 with this damn boot

Back on topic: I felt really bad for RGIII when I saw this. He seems like an awesome dude, but felt bad for him because it gives Kirk the right a way to steal the job.

Yep... I think the Washington F/O may have just about had enough of their fragile, 1st-round QB.

They have nobody to blame but themselves. In college he ran too much and was often hurt. They traded all those picks to get a guy who was either going to be hurt a lot or they were going to try to change him and make him something he is not. Not a shocker that it isn't working out. I thought his potential was worth the #2 pick, but I never thought he was worth the price Washington paid.
