Ravens @ Texans AAR

I think we can all figure out who is who in this gif cause this basically what happened to us tonite.

What went right? Nothing.

What went wrong? Everything..& I couldn’t even sit thru the whole game.

It’s gotten to the point defenses know what we’re gonna do before we do it. No one but Nico requires attention. Schultz is no threat. Hutch and Metchie are no threat. Mixon is, but with how shitty our o-line is that basically cancels him out in the run game. So all that’s left is to get after CJ..& we’ve now started to see him wilt a little after 17 weeks of being sped up, beaten down and generally just running for his life.

It’s obvious none of this can be addressed until seasons end, but the biggest thing that needs to be addressed is Slowik. I mean my god He just needs to go away. 2nd thing is the o-line. We need some maulers in here asap. The Shanahan scheme is just too reliant upon the run for it to be nonexistent in year 2. 3rd thing is we need to get CJ more weapons. Schultz is trash in all phases, Hutch and Metchie are not it and old man woods doesn’t have anything left.
I rarely post here but after the game yesterday, it’s apparent this offense has regressed further than the Davis Mills/Name a coach era.
There are folks here that believe Slowik is not the problem instead it’s execution by the players. CJ did not forget how to play QB, the OL was never addressed in the off season, Diggs was an awful trade even if he had stayed healthy along with other personnel decisions made by the FO on offense ( extending Shultz ) Yes players ultimately must execute and do the freaking job they are paid to do but Bobby is in charge of the offense and the whole unit sucks! Guys like Tunsil and Mason should be leaders but they aren’t. CJ needs to grow some fuzz on his peaches and get real with his teammates instead of sulking and pouting when things go bad. It’s is his job to make everyone around him better.
Slowik isn’t helping CJ thus CJ isn’t helping this unit. We can sure as hell find a competent OC with a track record of success can’t just pluck a franchise QB off the street. I believe CJ is closer to the franchise QB we desperately need than Bobby is gonna pulll his head out of his ass and become a quality OC.

In the first half, when the Texans were down 10-0 and the game was still within reach, Slowik had a 13-play stretch in which he called 12 pass plays.

Slowik is a moron and should be gone by the end of today. Demeco will never make that call so is it Slowik or Demeco that’s the problem?

It's a both problem. Demeco's loyalty might end up being his downfall. An admirable quality for common folk, or a pastor, but not always a good thing for people in charge of hiring/firing in sports

So apparently there's an NFL team in southeast Texas that doesn't like playing on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?

Hard to believe one of the most exciting parts of the game was Baltimore starting at the 1 on their first possession after the safety, and hoping the Texans could get another one. Of course that quickly got shot to hell when the Ravens go 99 yards in 6 plays.

Man, that was a bad football game. Glad Christmas didn't have me invested too much into it.

Fair point, I would love to know what they have been saving or hiding for the Wildcard game that’s gonna be different. That team yesterday was a effing joke and Demeco better damn well be concerned.
Being a conspiracy theorist, I would damn sure prefer to play the Steelers in the first round over Baltimore. lol. I wonder if Demeco felt the same. They did get destroyed by Cleveland last year then looked completely different in the playoffs.

No Cal as the man needs to go down there and kick some ass. Sending a woman down there to do a man’s job, is weak sauce big time. That’s like sending your wife outside to fight your battle when some dudes are calling you out.
That was my point. Cal is weak sauce and we know he won't get it done
Hannah is the only one that has shown any gumption at all.

I don’t think Meco is loyal like y’all think he is. At the end of the day self-preservation is stronger than any impulse he might have to save Slowik.

But He had no reason to do anything with Slowik last year, CJ and the offense looked great most of the year. This year, the thing that’s been holding this team back is the offense and it’s gotten worse as the season has gone on. The other part to this is Caserio/Mcnairs will definitely have a say in this as well. If we lose to the Titans again, stumble into the playoffs and then get curb-stomped by whoever we play best believe some heads are gonna roll in the offseason. Maybe Meco goes to bat for Slowik publicly, but in those closed door meetings with Caserio, Cal and Hannah it’s a different story & THEY pull the trigger for him.

At a minimum tho, there will definitely be some convo. I think Strausser is already gone tho.

Once again another well thought out and logical analysis. Thank you for your perspective

if the team looks like booty cheeks again against the tacks, just watch how many opposing fans will be in NRG on wild card weekend. Especially if it’s the Steelers.
I love this team (much to a fault) but I know what it is…. I’m not going to make that drive, and spend close to a $1000 (if I’m lucky) to watch the kind of crap I watched on Christmas Day!
Someone (ownership or Meco) will get the message loud and clear then….. one would hope.
Our Oline is too unathletic and slow to be running this ZBS. Or get tasked with having to sprint out to block a DB on a sure to be doomed WR screen. Hell they still can’t pick up the basic stunt by the Dline! I’m not sure any of them are strong enough to block a guy one on one. OLine coach has got to go for sure. They have gotten worse.

If you send me the grand, I will text you a play by play and you can be productive elsewhere.

You know why the Lions are gutting out wins in spite of losing multiple key players? Because the team is tough. They're tough physically and mentally.

The Texans are soft. They're soft physically and mentally.
used to hear this aLot with those Kubiak teams too every time they have a bad loss. So were they soft when they had the lions up against the ropes with 5 ints?

The scheme might be soft.. the players are not.

2 points in a prime time game shows there are players on this team that are soft.

Well it could be a bit more than that.

I pretty much agree with all of this. I don't think Slowik is as safe as a lot of people think.

Of course it's a mental thing, TK. It would be frightening and depressing to know how few of our players and coaches knew that we were going to win yesterday. Maybe you can't coach with love and understanding ..... Kubiak and DeMeco were football savvy sweethearts but were their teams performing at maximum ? I've always hated angry, loud assholes, but I can't help but think we may need some of that.
Yeah...that's what I thought, too, and was happy when they hired Bill O'Brien. He was a change from Kubiak, a gruff, tough-talking guy who knew how to nail people when necessary. Turns out, O'Brien is a TOTAL fraudulent, fake, weak, asshole who ran this multi-billion dollar franchise into the ground.

There has got to be some kind of middle ground between ho-hum nice guy, and total, raging, know-it-all, asshole.

O’Brien the GM was terrible. As a coach, guys were afraid of that man.

This team is a bully. But there is always gonna be a bigger badder bully.

Last year I thought we had a tough team that overcame adversity. This team, the offense basically turtles at halftime and the defense runs out of gas and starts getting punched in the mouth.

You cannot call this team a bully! The Defense might have bully tendencies, but the offense is a big wet pus!

I haven’t seen this team bully anyone in the last 8 weeks
We've actually outscored several teams pretty badly. We've had our a$$es handed to us too many times. I was guilty of calling for a return to a zone-based offense. The offensive linemen on a zone offense need to be athletic and intelligent - they don't really bully, but they're beautiful when in sync - like an old Singer sewing machine my mom used in the 50's.

Great posts by both posters. I think one of these takes are correct. We won't know until the offseason, but there is going to be a mutiny in the fanbase (and possibly in the locker room) if they don't make some changes on the offensive side of the ball that isn't just player personnel. As fans, we like to ***** about obvious issues with the team, but think about the players that actually risk their physical wellbeing on a week to week basis? Do you think you can keep giving max effort when you know your offense is set up to fail and the opposing defense knows what you're going to do before you do it? I don't think so. Cal may be a little "dense" at times, but I don't think he's going to let this slide.

Demeco has been given a ton of input on this team, but I think they are going to give him the "Bob McNair forced Kubes to hire Wade as a DC/de facto HC of the defense" treatment, except for the offense instead of the defense. Or they shitcan Bobby, which is still definitely on the table. Either way, the offense looks like a turd sandwich without the bread so something needs to be done.
