Rashean Mathis Opposite JJo?

Hall of Fame
What do you guys say/think? He is going to be a free agent in March and I think he would be the second best Corner on the team and he would go a long way towards making the secondary even better with two Pro Bowl caliber corners playing next to each other and even though he had a season ending injury this year he is still better than Allen and Jackson. Any thoughts?

I think receiver and the secondary are the two biggest needs for this team.

I agree with you on WR. But I would put shoring up the O-line ahead of another CB. Maybe finding another stud OG or find a stud RT and move Winston to OG....
As long as our pass rush is strong, and with Wade here it should be, the CBs we have will do.
HOWEVER....
If we can get Mathis at a reasonable salary, then I'd be all for letting F/A J.Allen walk and letting Mathis be the #2 CB.

Why not find some line men in the draft?

Very few teams have excellent #2 CBs. They are tough to find and fit on the payroll. I don't think CB is as much of an issue as NT/DE is. Getting an upgrade at NT to help collapse the pocket would go a long ways in helping the secondary. Besides, the Texans won't have much cap space to work with next year if they re-sign Mario, Myers and Foster.

I would love to sign Mario and DE Robert Mathis but you talk about over blowing the cap that would be it.

I've no problem with that at all. But I don't know how if the upcoming is draft loaded with good O-linemen that can excel in our zone blocking scheme and pass protection.

We'll have to consult the draftniks...

anybody?

As long as Colorado State exists, there will always be O-linemen to fit the Texan's scheme. :)

Mathis is not what he once was. And another year won't help. The Texans should spend their FA $$$ elsewhere.
