Raiders fire Dennis Allen after two-plus seasons
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday, per a source informed of the situation, that the Raiders fired the head coach over the phone. Oakland fell to 0-4 on Sunday after another embarrassing loss, this time a 38-14 bludgeoning at the hands of the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium in London. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer first reported the news.

Hired prior to the 2012 season, Allen was 8-28 in his two seasons and four games into the 2014 campaign. Rapoport reported that offensive line coach Tony Sparano, senior offensive assistant Al Saunders and offensive coordinator Greg Olson are options to take over for Allen.

Happened yesterday, I guess nobody cares...

"Of course, all eyes turn to Jon Gruden. We know he is close with Raiders owner Mark Davis," Rapoport said Monday night. "That would be, from what I understand, the first look from the Oakland Raiders."

Interesting stat...

Fewest games into season a head coach has lost job (since 1970)
Code:
Coach Team Games
Jack Patera, 1982	Seahawks 2
Bruce Coslet, 2000	Bengals 2
Howard Schnellenberger'74Colts 3
Jerry Williams, 1971	Eagles 3
Dennis Allen, 2014	Raiders 4
Lane Kiffin, 2008	Raiders 4
Scott Linehan, 2008	Rams 4
Mike Shanahan, 1989	Raiders 4
Kay Stephenson, 1985	Bills 4
Tommy Prothro, 1978	Chargers 4
Rick Forzano, 1976	Lions 4

Davis 2.0 appears to be a big puss. First he fires Allen over the phone. Then, he doesn't even bother to face the media himself today at the PC, yet trots the GM and Sparano out there

Two headlines from the Raider owner: 1) GM isn't safe. 2) Gruden is in play.

Dennis Allen sucked, he was a horrible selection from the get go...but at the time we had slim pickings. No credible HC wanted to go to Oakland at that time. Hell, it remains to be seen if we can lure a good HC this time around. We were in cap salary hell, burdened with dead contracts from players that should have never been given those contracts in the first place.

We should have at least $50 million in cap space next year, there are rumors that Mark is head over heels for Gruden and will do whatever it takes to land him. If Gruden decides to stay in the booth, Harbaugh is a close second if the 49ers decide to move on from him.

Moving to LA in order to secure a new stadium has also been brought up; and it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see that happen. LA is a much more attractive place for top level free agents than Oakland will ever be. We badly need our next HC to be the right one. I love Gruden for what he did in the past...but that's just it...it's in the past. He's been away from the game for far too long, I'm not sure if he still has it. It'll definitely be an interesting off-season for Raider fans.

The NFL is so eager to get into the LA market, they will probably subsidize the owner that moves there. It will be a mistake in my opinion. LA will not support a bloated NFL extracting tax dollars. It is the ONLY thing I find positive about LA.

The question is, who's going to be willing to work for the "pumpkin pie hair cutted freak"?

Imo, they screwed up when they didn't give Hue Jackson more time. One year, 8-8 then fired.

Money talks, and it seems like the Raiders are sitting on a lot of it.

Hue Jackson was a great OC, and if we had a GM in place before we hired him as a HC things may have worked out. But we didn't, and Jacko went on a power trip. Would you have been okay giving up a 1st round pick for Carson Palmer?? :kubepalm:

It was a conditional 2nd round pick, had the Raiders made the AFC Championship game, it would have ended up being a 1st. So yeah, it could have potentially been 2 first rounders for Palmer :gun:

This is why I think nobody with real experience wants the Raiders job...

Pretty sure Rex Ryan did the same thing. Rex did it while it was raining though....so he's got that going for him.

Kinda dumb if you ask me. These are grown men not teenagers
