Raiders | To Practice against the Texans - from www.KFFL.com
Thu, 2 Jun 2005 18:57:10 -0700

John Czarnecki, of FoxSports.com, reports the Oakland Raiders are going to spend three days in Houston training against the Houston Texans prior to their preseason game there Saturday, August 20.

Good to hear. I'm glad that Dunta and Phillip will get some good training against the best reciever in the NFL.

Nice , i like the Texans, my 2nd favorite player is Dunta... but i still do have a hateful passion for P-Burnt, lets hope for a good clean practice :)

I wonder if Collins will be able to figure out what players are on the Texans and what players are on the Raiders this time?

Should be fun.

I'm sure Mr. Davis will come and be fodder for the boards. He's certainly a colorful character.

And the Raiders should be good competition even in a controlled environment.

They're already doing that now when they have intrasquad matchups against
AJ !

Yeah, but Culpepper was throwing the ball....not Collins.
don't underestimate Kerry Collins, he throws one of the best deep balls in the league.

I downright shocked I tell you, that Al can pry himself away from Jerry and the 'boys to scrimmage with another team. Are the Raidahs even playing Dallas this pre-season?

Atleast Dunta and PB will get a work out against Moss and Porter. Are the raiders still playing a 3-4 or did they go back to a 4-3?

Still a hybrid, although i expect alot more 4-3 with the D-Linemen we got now...

Ya he has great last year, Look like a d*** *****. Didnt he like fumble once and someone ran it back to the house and like 2 INT. I am sure Moss will help some but lets just hope he keeps his pants on. Porter at 6'2 220 and Moss at 6'4 210 will give PB and Drob some problems but hopfully Drob can stick Moss. Offensively we should control them there terrible on D (No Napleon Harris) and according to Kris Jenkins "Sapp is fat and sloopy heck even his soul is sloopy." How is your soul sloopy? If DD cant run the ball I call for A NEW RB ASAP! Lets not forget Mr. Jordan (most underrated player) hes big and has a burst what more do you want?

I believe they play them in the regular season.

True its a scrimmage but we dont get to see them in the season (and they wont make the playoffs) so might as well hit em! I dont hate DD as a person he just plain and simply a terrible RB in my judgement. If any team is crappy they blame it on the O-line so I really dont wanna hear any "his line sucks." Some guy on the Bucs board started a topic about whose better Pittman or Davis. I say Pittman and I know ill take alot of heat but hes atleast soild. Pittman had like 950 yds. in 13 games DD had 1200 in 16 games. I think Pittman is better.

terrible? are you crazy? sure DD isn't barry sanders or emmitt smith, but back to back 1000 yard seasons in your rookie and second year isn't too shabby. Pittman may be a little better at this point, but DD is younger and quicker.

sorry kid...but DD isn't that bad of a runningback...if you want a bad runningback look up names like troy hambrick...or ron dayne...or oh heck if you want a mediocre RB try kevin barlow...DD may not be portis or tomlinson but he is no slouch...Davis unlike a lot of backs in the league runs hard...he's a little bowling ball out there...if he can stay healthy and not fumble the ball he'll be last years tiki barber...and personally i'm not looking for DD to be an LT type runner...i look at him and i see a shorter version of curtis martin...ya know the new jets guy whose done one thing since he's gotten to the league an that's constantly rush for a 1,000+ yds every season...he's not flashy just gets the job done

as for the practice game with the raiders...any time you go against another team it's good...you're going full speed not worrying about hurting your own teammates...and yes going against moss and porter is a good thing for d-rob and pb...they'll need a good warm up course to get ready for this season of manning and the dolts

How many catches did Pittman have tho? DD had 68 catches for 8 ypc... DD might not be the best running back ever, but he is definity a good back. Reminds me of Marshal Faulk, but without the spin move.

Faulk was fast!!!!! DD look like he is too slow to hit the holes and he couldnt run a Corner over. Ok hes quick big deal and its not that hard to catch out of the backfield 90% of all RB can do it maybe not as good but still good enough. As far as the guy that says Hambrick and Dayne are terrbile. I agree with Hambrick but Dayne was never THE GUY in NYG. Dont judge him when hes a backup. Disagree if you want but DD is slow little and there arent many backs that are good if there like that.

OK your DD stole my lollipop vendetta starts looking really silly when you make statements like this one. One of the first things most commentators compliment DD on is his ability to hit the hole decisively.

Example:

Has above-average speed and explosiveness … Shows good initial quickness through the hole and has the short-area burst and acceleration to get into the second level … Displays good balance and has the hip swerve and wiggle to make the first tackler miss …

Link

As for the CB comment, it just makes it look like you have never seen DD run.

DD 5'9" 221

Curtis Martin 5'11" 210

Shaun Alexander 5'11" 225

Tiki Barber 5'10" 200

Derrick Blaylock 5'9" 210

Warrick Dunn 5'9" 180

Travis Henry 5'9" 215

Priest Holmes 5'9" 213

Rudi Johnson 5'10" 220

Julius Jones 5'9" 210

Clinton Portis 5'11" 205

LT 5'10" 221

Brian Westbrook 5'10" 205

There's obviously no place for little guys in the backfield.
