In my opinion playing ball in the offseason helped this kid alot , I think he's deffinately better than Banks right now , no reason he shouldnt be #2 , Last year I would have never guessed i would say that either

He definatly should be #2. I would be really interested to see how he would play with the 1st string offense.
Everyone is blaming the line on Carr's faults....im sorry but those 2 interceptions where on his shoulders. The line in my opinion has been performing very very well.
Carr is lacking and I hope that it is just because the offseason. The only other person Carr can blame is Palmers ridiculous play calling.
If I had to pick a QB based on the last two performances - Ragone is looking awfully good.

I have a reason. How about that he has never won a NFL game in his life and has little playing experience. If he wants to be #2 then he needs to show that he can play when he gets the nod from capers in a real game situation. The last few years when he got playing time he really screwed up. All that said, he has improved and will have more chances.

All I am saying is I think it's Bank's job to lose. He hasn't really messed up that much when he started for us and I think he is a little more proven in his ability. Yes, Ragone has improved alot from that year when he play the Jacksonville game, I would just be more comfortable if I could get those images out of my head.

You have a point there. I agree that his play has seemed to be on a steady decline. It all depends on if he steps up to the challenge. I mean he did beat Carolina the year they went to the SB. Hopefully Carr will stay healthy and sharp and we won't have to see either one this season.

well you always hope to never see the backup qb on the field (unless its a blowout and its in the 4th) but if it DOES happen than i want someone who can take control of this offense and not have to change our playcalling because of who we have in there under center.
IMO ragone is more mobile and can put a better touch on the ball than banks. hopefully he will jump over banks for the #2 spot.

Ragone was 1st team Conference USA for 3 years in a row and is the only
player in the history of that Conference to be named Offensive Player of
the Year 3 times. He is no slouch and obviously has not had the work
with the 1st team that Carr/Banks have had. His NFL Profile talks about
his leadership, proper setup skills for throwing (shoulders squared/feet
planted/correct arm posisition,etv.),arm strength/touch on throws,long
ball accuracy,quick release,good ability at reading defenses,etc. There
is definitely a lot of upsde to Ragone, not just another 'pretty face.'

I predict that we will see Ragone in week 4 against Cincy. Capers and Palmer will be scrambling to save their jobs and Carr's confidence should be pretty well shot by then.

I agree. Ragone should start the year as the #2, with Carr on a short leash. If he doesn't look competent in the first two games, insert Ragone into the starters role during the bye week. Maybe demoting Carr might actually make him work harder, as I don't see the fire in the belly I am looking for out of him. Demoting the Golden Boy would also put everyone on notice....nobody gets by here on reputation. It's all about what you do on the field.
The Carr defenders aren't here because there's nothing to defend. Ragone does potentially deserve a look as No. 2. But promoting Ragone ahead of Carr is the most insane, ridiculous thought I've ever seen on this message board and ever seen in my lifetime of talking football, for that matter. It's not worth anyone's time.

Yes. Ragone should be #2. This is an important year for David Carr. I believe he has enough around him. His protection is suspect at best, hopefully they will have more cohesion with being together for awhile. If he does not show up this year I say the #1 QB spot should be open until the job is won in practice and games.
