Questions about Offensive Line positions ?

Since we run a 3-4 D, we are acquainted with the big-time transition college
DEs go thru to play OLB for the Texans. But is there much of a transition, if any, for a guard to play center (other than the obvious of learning how to snap the ball before making a block), and for a center to move to guard ? I
mean, aren't both positions basically the same and the meaningful differences
in OL personnel so far as abilities required lie between C/G and the more athletic demands of the Tackle position (especially weakside, blindside tackle) ?

beside the center snapping the ball the only other difference between the two is that guards have to pull a lot more and tend to be more athletic.

guards tend to pull a bit more. centers make the line calls...thats why its nice to have a relativley sharp center with a couple of years of experience.

yeah often times you will see a guard pull, or come all the way to the other side after the ball is snaped, they do this sometimes if they are trying to disguise an overload/run to one side. So you have to be a little more athletic and have a little more speed to play guard vs. center !
