I noticed that when a team drafts their "QB of The Future" and if his college reciever, most of time his go to guy, comes out at the same time.. the club never drafts them both..

In my opinion it will help both players out.. like if the 49ers drafted. Alex Smith and Parris Warren.. if Smith picks up on the offense quick then he can relate the 49ers play to the Ute's playbook and make it a easy translation from college to NFL.. they could help each other out mentaly..

And on top of they people always talk about how in sync QBs are with their WRs and you playing years together in college has to make them in sync.. I might be wrong i might be right..

So what do you think???
 
i think this topic was covered when bernard berrian came out along with david carr..personally i agree to a point, that if a qb has a rapport with a reciever, it would be beneficial to exploit it, however, you dont want a qb accused of favoritism because of an old friend, and you also dont know how well they would have got along off the field, and it could have a negative impact on current team chemistry. so in short, i dont know. lol
 
Yea, I remember Ibar being pretty vocal about Berrian.

I do think that if a WR that played with your QB was also the BPA, it would not hurt to take him. But it would have to be more of a coincidence than a "Well, he played with Carr in college, so maybe they reproduce that in the pros..." since college is such a different game the projections are pretty much moot.
 
yeah understand what your saying.. about the whole favortism thing.. that would probably come into play..

i just feel like if it was a "QB of the Future's" go to guy why not draft him later in the draft if he's available and who knows it might some magic on the field.. i dont think anybody has tried it.. I dont think..

Lets say you needed to add depth to reciever.. heck it couldnt hurt to draft him and see what happens.. and if the coach feels like favortism is being shown then he make sure that QB knows to go through progessions and if he still doesnt learn then you discipline them accordingly..

however in the NFL i think alotta people show favortisim.. I mean if you were QBing and you knew that you had Randy Moss or TO, or Harrison or Torry Holt on the field wouldnt you sort of look in their direction a little bit more often then say if you had.. Antonio Bryant or Freddie Mitchell or Dennis northcutt??
 
I don't think favoritism comes into play as much as comfortability. And that would be BAD.

A qb must be able to make READS. Just throwing to a guy b/c you're comfortable means you sometimes throw into 2-3 man coverages which is fine if Randy Moss is on the other end but there is only one of him and more times than not you probably should have dumped it down to the back.
 
The better WR is going to make the QB better (and vice versa).

Do you think Peyton Manning would've been better off if the Colts drafted Marcus Nash (Manning's favorite target at Tennessee who was drafted the same year as Peyton) instead of Marvin Harrison?
 
Even though they were not drafted by the same team, the only QB-WR combo I can think of who was a QB- best receiver in college who played together in the pros is Kerry Collins--Joe Jurevicius. Both were at Penn State together, then with the Giants together from 2000 to 2002. The leading receivers with the Giants during this time were Toomer and Titi Barber, then Ike Hilliard. Joe was the number 4 on the list. For what it's worth, I believe Joe J. is one of the most underated WR in the league. Nice to see him back in Seattle.
 
The reason he is a go to guy is because he is the favorite reciever. You think the QB is going to throw the ball his bestfriend if he's crappy? We have favoritism right going on right now (in a sense), AJ=1 DD=2. Yes there are other factors for those reads, but the go to guy is your #1 guy. But then again, we do throw the ball to Bradford for some reason still.
