Question about our "DEFENSE" please help

Why is it that after every pass completion, our safetys/corners/linebackers are 10-15 feet away from the reciever? Every freaking pass the colts threw, their wrs were wide open and our secondary or linebackers had to run to tackle them. Why is it that our defense dosent actually cover the recievers, get a hadn in the face, etc. Instead of letting them catch the ball without coverage and then tackling?

Please help me i am a frustrated texans fan

You and us both.... :headhurts:

I'd like to know why the term tackle for a loss is foreign to our team.

Even if we bottle up the RB at the LOS the play ends as a gain of 2 or 3.

Our defense is simply atrocious

Forget "Gulf Coast Offense" or whatever nickname the board was joking around about on threads long long time ago

wish I could photoshop Richard Smith in this and the Red Sea defense

Why is Feagins covering Marvin Harrison one on one. He couldn't cover Harrison one on one if Harrison was on one leg and Feagins had him in handcuffs.

i think some of there WR are just to fast for us

they have a great Offensive coach with exoctic routes

SPeed man its all about the speed

and i didnt watch the game put short passes with slants and cut throws are VERRRRRRRRRRRRYYYYY hard to cover

im so sick of this passive defense. take a chance. only time we stoped them was at the end of the game when we brought the house. force some mistakes dont just set and wait. Smith doesn't have the personel to get pressure without bringing extra help but he wont do it. scarred to leave the db alone. who cares we are dying anyway, pressure the qb and they wouldn't be alone for long.

i saw a couple of times when we blitzed we showed manning, before the snap, and let him change the play. just a suggestion, when you blitz manning try not to let him know its coming. he's pretty decent at changing a play and beating a defense when he knows where your coming from.

drives me freaking crazy. it wasnt like they were throwing the ball down field. most of manning's deep balls were incomplete. we just let him throw 10yard stop's all day long. he's payton freaking manning, you think he's gonna mess that up. make him throw the ball down field. knock his butt on the ground, late his his arse, something. sure he might still beat us, but atleast dont die like a coward and let him throw 10 and 15 yard completions all day long.

i remember a time i used to enjoy watching football. this team sux. there im done.

The only thing that slowed the Colts offense down yesterday was the Colts. If not for all those drops and penalties in the 1st half, they woulda scored 50.

I thought the Colts had a great game plan. If a player dropped a pass they'd run the same play again and get it right the next play. Or they'd try another play and get it right the first time. The freaking geniuses.

Part of playing off the receivers is because we have no pass rush. We didn't get burned deep because we effectively played a prevent defense like others have said. We've got to get more physical on the line and that won't happen with the current crew we have. Keep in mind that we are not the only team that the Colts have done this to. We can rip Faggins if we want but the fact is, if we had a decent pass rush, our D-backs would be looking a whole lot better. Peyton Manning will pick everyone apart if he's given the time.

The Texans have a defense ? .... Is that what Dick Smith calls that conglomeration of garbage he sends out there to let the other team score ? I call the Texans defense down right offensive.

It also appeared that Bennett, Reeves, Dunta and everyone else the Texans threw out there couldn't cover Harrison, Wayne, Addai or Clark. Why is that? No pass rush. Also, Peyton Manning has made a career out of making D-backs look bad.

Cop out.

Mario was a hair late all day. Sure it would be nice to have somebody else with a set of hangy-downies on the DLine but CB's starting the play 10-12 yards off then immediately backpedaling at the hike is bad news. That's asking for the 10 yard throws that we got all day.

Are you saying you would rather have Manning complete 50 yard passes instead of 10 yarders? I'm pretty sure that's the alternative when you have NO PASS RUSH! In case you couldn't tell, the lack of a pass rush is really bothering me today.

As mad as I am about Sage's ridiculous color blindness (only possible explanation), I am twice as upset about the soft coverage in the secondary. Do coaches not watch ANY game film from week to week? Because it is the same old, same old each week. I lay the poor secondary play on the coaches more than the individual players. Yes, individuals are getting beat, but we are NOT putting in coverage plays that allow sucess.

Sage would make a great backup QB for the Colts. He loves giving them the ball.

So we drafted Mario in 06, and everyone in the Texans organization said it was because we have to beat the Colts. We need a strong defense to shut down Indy. We even went defense in the 1st round in 07.

Well, we've played Indy 6 times since then and in order they have scored 43, 24, 30, 38, 31, & 33. That's 31 points per game. So the beat Indy plan sure isn't working. In fact everyone else in the league is doing a better job at stopping them than us. Here's a snippet from everyone's favorite blog.

"When the Colts were finished, they'd rolled up 474 yards of offense. That's the most they've had since gaining 458 against the Texans last December."

This defense is a complete failure. Every aspect of it is terrible. The scheme, the talent, the coaching, the mentality, I mean everything. This getting old.

What defense? We don't have a defense, a scheme, or anything that remotely looks like a defense. Our defense is the opponents offense.

The way I saw it, a lot of the time it wasn't a problem with the pass rush from the front four or giving too much cushion. Manning, as always, was getting rid of the ball very quickly. They were throwing a lot of short passes, slants, etc. with a good chance of getting YACs. Mario was just a second late on a lot of plays. The CBs were often playing them tight, but the problem is they weren't jamming them effectively enough at the line to disrupt their timing, which is essential to the Colts' passing game. That and overloading one side of the line are the only things I think they could do to stop them, with Manning being so efficient.
