Pro Day Results??

BuffSoldier

The University of Virginia had its pro day today, and I am very interested in seeing how D'Brickashaw Ferguson did. NFL.com is about 3 days behind on the pro-day updates, so I wanted to knwo if anyone had any links or sites were I could see the results sooner?

Either check out the Virginia site, or wait till NFL.com puts them up. D'Brick will be up on the board soon, because he is one of the bigger names in the draft. Mario and the NCST team workout tomorrow which should also be good, other than they planned it the same day as UT which means there will be hardly anyone there. I would assume UT is going to get a majority of the scouts. I am also intersted to see how well D'Brick did.

I know what D'brick can do, its top 3 overall material. I want to see what Ahmad Brooks is able to do.

I dont think that he will work out at the proday, he will probably have a private workout, on a count of they kicked him off the team, and he probably cant participate in any Virginia football events.

Yeah like Maurice Clarrett last year and I believe Mike Williams. He will have a private workout because he isn't a member of the team anymore.

I thought anyone from that particular state could work out voulentary at any college hosting a pro-day within his own state.

Ferguson ran 5.09 in the 40 and repped 225 26 times. I dont know what else he did.

Doesn't sound like the stellar showing that some of you were expecting, although his shuttle time is more important than his 40 so we'll have to wait and see what he got on that. 26 reps was about average for OLinemen this year, nothing special but not too bad either. Sounds like his measurables from his workout didn't do much to set him apart from most of the other OLinemen.

I went to Virginia's home page and they said Ferguson put up 26 reps of 225 and ran the 40 yd dash in a 5.09.

hmm Mork it seems like that extra weight got him a little more strength, but made him lose a step in the overall, last year he was said to be running low 4.8-4.9s. Interesting how was his lateral quickness and explosivenss effected by the extra weight. Now Buff dont go on a tear, because I have said that D.F. is the best LT prospect in the draft, but seems like my statements about him getting a little stiffer may be true.

Ferguson (6-5 7/8, 305) ran the 40s in 5.09 and 5.07. His measurements are 35½-inch arm and 10½-inch hand. He had a 30-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot-11 long jump. He ran 4.89 in the short shuttle and 7.64 in the three-cone drill, but slipped on both runs due to the hard surface.

His shuttle and 3 cone time are terrible, they said he slipped but even with that they don't look like they were going to be among the top 3-5 times among OLinemen, and if he slipped he should have stopped before finishing and redone them since they let you do that.

Again, Ferguson posted solid times for an OLineman but nothing spectacular.

The combine track was reportedly fast, but not as fast as the Ohio State track. It was a good track to run on and people who did not run sold themselves short. Eiter way this group of Lineman is as athletic or more than the group three years ago.

Were most of these on the fast track I've heard talked about at the combine? I ask because they are overall very fast compared to those logged by tackles at the 2003 combine. I find it hard to believe that everyone is now as fast as the fastest players three years ago.

I believe the Combine ran on regular field turf, which is somewhat faster than grass but not as fast as astro turf (what Ohio St. ran on at their pro day). At least by running at the pro day everyone there ran on the same surface so you could at least compare times from everyone that was there.

Keyfro, I like some of your suggestions on OLinemen, but the majority of them were not invited to the Combine and probably should not really be considered as draft picks, maybe as undrafted free agents though.

Guy Whimper put up a nice Combine and I think he would be a decent option in the 5th round or later.

Jimmy Martin is a solid OLineman but I from what I've seen of him I don't know how good of a fit he is for our scheme.

Will Montgomery also looked pretty nice from what I've seen and had a nice workout. I wouldn't mind us getting him in the 5th round or later, but probably not worth our pick of the 4th round.

Rob Smith, Cody Douglas, and Jeromey Clary are all fairly solid OLinemen and I think were invited to the Combine (I know Clary was, not sure on the other two) but like Martin I don't think any of them fit our zone blocking especially well.

I think Paul McQuistan was the one invited to the Combine between the two and I couldn't really tell them apart on the field, but I wasn't especially impressed with either one of them and don't think they'd fit our system.

As for the other guys on your list, I don't know enough about any of them to really comment. Most of them look like they could fit judging from their size and measurables, but that doesn't tell the whole story and I don't think any of the others were invited to the Combine so I don't know how good any of them can be expected to work out.
