"Stepping out in front of 56 scouts, coaches and executives, Williams showcased a combination of size and athleticism that should make him this draft's can't-miss prospect. Standing just an eyelash under 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 229 pounds, Williams ran his 40-yard dashes in the mid-4.5-second range."

What was all that talk about him being too slow, and needs to be a TE, to succeed in the NFL?

Man, he is going to be a beast for what ever team gets him. Can anyone think of a corner that is going to be able to match up with him?

Given the new set of rules (or more correctly...now properly enforced rules), Williams will explode in this league.

Ya I don't know what all this talk was about him not being a great prospect, but clearly he's one of the top guys. He was one last, no reason he shouldn't be one this year.

that is about as close to a enthusiastic recommendation as HUGE will ever preach, convincing me that Mike Williams very well may be the 1st pick in the draft :heh:

My buddy, who is a Bears nut, is dying to have him up there in Chi-town, he reminds me of Dre but a little slower. I wouldn't be upset at all to trade up and get this guy. That would give the defenses a fit, trying to double team Williams and Dre.......................imagine the possibilities?

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Casserly or Capers publicly say they didn't want another "no.1 type" reciever?
I'm pretty sure Williams himself would prefer to go to a team like Chicago where he is gonna be the first target.

Umm... Didn't the Bears just sign a Pro-Bowl receiver, wouldn't that give them two no. 1's?

Two is always better than one!

Chicago runs a Martz/Rams style offense. They need two top WR's to make it work.
The Bears dumped OC Terry O'Shea (who worked under Vermeil). The new OC is former Illinois head coach (& Norv's brother) Ron Turner. His offense is likely to be more balanced, but that doesn't preclude the Bears from drafting a WR who works the middle like Mike Williams.

Good point. I wasn't aware that they made this change. I always considered Martz's offense a warm weather or dome offense not suited for the Northern teams.

I know we need another receiver who can make plays and pull some coverage off Dre, so a Mike Williams type would be great as I see, are there any other WR's that we can draft in round two or three that have a nice physical play like him, I don't think speed is so important, but a nice possesion WR?

What are ya'lls thoughts of Mark Clayton of OU possibly dropping down to us? He's a big physical fast receiver and could make grab air even if he's standing in front of you. Plus us living in Texas, we all got a first hand view of the kids skillz.

Watching this guy this year, he made some real nifty catches, goes and gets the ball, and hes pretty fast, but I know hes a little small (5.10, 185), but I would take him in a heartbeat, just not at 13.

Just reading on Terrence Murphy (6.0, 189) from A&M and he may be a steal in the third round, maybe a perfect replacement for Bradford, or until we see what Armstrong and Gaffney can do at #2 and #3 WR.

Well, I wasn't really thinking 13 but would he be available in the 2nd round? and if not what are ya'lls thoughts of trading down a few spots to pick up an extra pick then grab him?

:thumbup This is a draft for CBs and WRs . I bet we get one of each . AJ has size and speed so you can take a Clayton or a Vincent Jackson depending on who's there .

i Say since Mike williams is sure to be a top pickl, i think we can have braylon edwards available with the #13, so we draft him. He's got size too and speed, and he was unstoppable at Michigan. He would certainly be better off,i think, than bradford, and would mean less coverage for dre so more catches and yards for dre
