A good football team this year would describe the Kansas City Chiefs. There record is nice, 5-4. They are, however, coming off a poor performance with Buffalo loosing 14 to 3. This just simply means, they will be hungry for a win when playing us this Sunday Night on ESPN (National TV), in our house, Reliant Stadium.

They have a descent QB in Trent Green. Makes the throws when needed, all you can ask from your QB.

A young, rising star in Larry Johnson, woh, I'll give credit to, has really stepped up and assumed the role of a starter (Priest Holmes out). He is an effective runner, often picking up solid gains.

Thier deffensive unit is grealty improved from last year. I think they're playing more aggrsively, now with more confidence, and they force turnovers. All signs of a good defense.

I'm looking foward to a good game, hopefully, a Houston Texan win. My 'Keys to beating Kansas City' will be issued tomorrow.

Fans: Cheer us on Sunday Night in our house! Represent, please!

Hey Vinny the worst part of their defense is in the area that we dont even do. Well at least the fan boys will get to talk about how we passed the ball more.

This Gonzales you speak of, what position does he play?

Well, our Houston Texans have an oppurtunity. This oppurtunity is a golden one. We can turn this season around, and finish very strong. This would save some players and coaches jobs, obviously a plus. It starts on National Television (ESPN) at 8:30 PM Sunday against the good Kansas City Cheifs.

We beat these guys just one season before, yet, it's safe to say that they are improved as a defensive unti since then. Here is what I think our Texans need to do to pull a potentailly very impressive victory versus them:

- The David Carr to Andre Johson Hook-up must be excuted for atleast a 5 yard gain per attemp. This is a young dou the has a bright future, however, we need to apply this now and get yards out of it.

-Mix the run it. Either with Domanick Davis or Johnathon Wells (which ever starts), and pick up atleast a few yards at a time with it. This will also help our bootlegs/playaction

-Make big plays on defense, espically on 3rd downs. Make sure we get off the field more times than not on 3rd down.

Lets make tihs a good game, hopefully we can pull it out.

And Roaf is out, and Green has less TD passes than Carr and Gonzalez is having somewhat of an off year (only 1 TD reception). They are not a great team, but the Texans aren't a good one either.

Only because teams are forced to throw on them more since we never have a lead.

Face it: from Carr to whoever needs to be completions. Carr needs at least a 100 QB rating. Less than three sacks, and no interceptions. This means that whatever is put on the right side of the line needs to show up.

The running game needs to be tight.

Our defensive linemen need to be able to shut down Larry Johnson.

The crowd needs to keep the Texans in the game. This cannot be de-emphasized. None of this "we're down in the second quarter - must be time to go home" garbage. I think the fans will be a big part of this game. If the stadium stays energized, the team will, too, and that's what they need to beat the Chiefs...

I agree, especially with running game part. We need a solid running game to eat up some clock and keep our defense off of the field. (It looks like we could be without DD another week.) Hopefully this will open up the passing game, and sell the play action. Armstrong needs to be in at WR also, and please get the ball to AJ!!!
If we pull out a win, we could salvage some of the season and maybe find a little dignity. And maybe we won't still be referred to as the Happless Houston Texans.

Let's win this one on National TV!

I'll give it a try.

1. Special teams, special teams, special teams. Field position is everything for us. It would be nice if Mathis could play, and play well.

2. Keep the fans into the game.

3. Can we have us some run defense? Somebody give me an amen.

4. Our offense needs to stay on the field longer. It is unfair to the defense to keep running them out on the field after 3 and outs. I know it doesn't make the fans particularly happy, but geez, don't boo a lot of the times we run the ball. All teams run the ball. We've got to run the ball. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. Heck, let's not boo at all. It doesn't help and isn't terribly attractive to free agents. It would be nice not to have anything boo-worthy happen at the game.

5. Lots of talk about the big offensive play. Works for me. For the Texans to do it, that is. It looks like the Chefs saw a lot of that last Sunday from at least the highlights.

6. Confuse Grandmama2.

7. Hope for a goodly reffed game. It would be nice for a change.

8. There is no number 8. Number 8 is being taken out to the woodshed and being variously abused for saying nice things about his coach, loving his wife, smiling at the opposition, being nice to his dad, doing stuff with his hair, being sexiest man alive, being pretty boy, being too much of a homebody, not drinking with the boys, being too PC, yelling too little and too much, slumping his shoulders, being too durable so that his can't-lose backups can't come in, having happy feet, dropping the ball, failing to throw the short pass, failing to throw the long pass, not looking off his passes, making too much money, not volunteering to take less money, doing too much, doing too little, ouch I just pulled a finger muscle, so let's move on.

9. It would be nice to see AJ have a gi-normous game. Not force it to him, but get him going.

10. The Fans Should Wear Deep Steel Blue. Can't hurt and it will probably go good with your eyes. :)


I am really looking forward to the game. I like the way Reliant looks at night. :texflag:
 
It should be an easier game than last week. We might actually pull this one out and (gasp)have a repeat perofrmance of last year and go on a winning jag!!! Or we could fall flat on our Texan faces and what does next years draft look like anyway?

For who?

Take a look at Stub Hub, Ebay and the message boards. Tons of people are trying to dump their tickets for this one - and I expect there are eager Chiefs fans gobbling them all up. It makes me sick. This could be just like Pittsburgh earlier this year and GB last year in terms of opposing fans in the seats. KC fans travel well anyway. Now, with our fair weather fan base going to the movies, the mall, or the deer lease instead, it gives this opponent even more opportunity to turn Reliant into a Battle Red for themselves.

C'mon AJ, you make Houstonians sound like a bunch of blase Southern Californians when it comes to their football. They are much closer to the rabid
Chiefs fans in their love of football, especially the NFL - afterall, this is Texas, right ? Take if from a native of the KC area, the Chiefs have had some nasty stretches in their history when support was down. People here are just temporarily PO'd, they aren't indifferent.
 
Indifferent, no. Front running, yes.

Now that the newness of the Texans has worn off, a lot of people here (those whose fannies are not in seats) will be "temporarily po'd" until the team starts winning. I've been attending games here for 30 years and have become all to familiar with the attendance/support pattern. I think most of the old guard on here would agree at least somewhat.

But really, we're not that different from other cities, especially southern cities.
