Preseason...Game 4...Dallas Cowboys!!!

JamTex

Hall Of Fame Texans Fan!
On Thursday night at 7pm, the Texans will travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in Arlington at AT&T Stadium.
The game will be aired on the NFL Network and ABC-13.
We play for the Boot!
If Dak plays, forget it.
The Texans will lose.
Does it matter? This game will be about the guys on the bubble trying to make the team.
The Texans have allot of young players that will soon be on other teams.
The one constant from this last game and cuts is that many young Texans players get picked up.
This is what they are playing for. To make a roster.
Who do you have your eye on? Who should remain a Texans player?
The cuts to 53 will happen soon and we'll find out.
Go kids! Play your heart out, beat the Cowboys, bring home the Boot and make this team!

The worst thing ever is to go 4-0 in the preseason. Let the Cowboys have the silly boot, need to lose this one and preserve our chances of having a decent regular season.

While I wouldn't mind if they rested their starters, winners generally don't play to lose. I am always happy with stomping on the Cowgirls. If we do that with Savage and Strong, I will be even more happy. :D

Win, lose, Dallas or anyone else, couldn't care less. Get a couple reps in for the starters, continue to execute and keep that vibe going, set the back end of the roster, get everyone out healthy. Put the calisthenics season behind us and bring on Chicago for realz.

I thought the Bears have been on the decline in recent years, no? I always thought the last game was evaluating on who would make the final cut and very limited if any play from the starters, especially offense.

You know Prescott will play. Since the rookie must start for them in regular season, they must give him all the game experience they can until then.
I don't feel too good about this one. Our preparation time is shorter and it's their home field.
Texans 21
Cowboys 28

More: Josh Lenz WR, Mumphery WR, Hilliard RB, Pagan DE, Tony Washington OLB, Scarlett OLB, Eric Lee OLB, Cliett ILB, Terrance Mitchell CB, KJ Dillon Safety, Charles James CB, Wendell Williams speedster

I would agree about the last game. That's why I said just a couple reps for the starters, and by a couple reps I mean literally one series of running whatever few plays that may entail. Then they're done to make way to get final evals on back of the roster guys.

And then the declining Bears for realz, sure.

I hope they don't play the starters at all! Don't want them to risk anyone. Remember what happened to Savage last year! Sure don't want that to happen to anyone again but especially any of the starters.

I was thinking Oz is done for the pre-season. I do not expect many of the 1's to play at all. Always happy when I am not paying for that home 4th pre-season game!

In a meaningless game, if course I want the Texans to win, but I really like Dak Prescott. He's just super fun to watch. A helluva player. I wanted us to draft him, but I knew it wasn't going to happen...but then the dread Southern Oklahoma team did. :pissed:

Dallas is where QB's go to get hurt. Something in Texas says have a line of these guys ready. Dak will get his, but yeah, he looks good in the mini season

O'Brien has already made it pretty clear that the starters won't play in this game. Hell, I wouldn't be shocked if Savage only played the first half and Weeden took over the remainder of the game. I know I wouldn't trust my QB working behind our second/third stringers after what happened last preseason.

The starters will be resting up, rehabbing those little injuries, studying film, making corrections and getting ready to prepare for the game planning for the Bears game.
None of them will play in this game.

Looking forward to seeing more Tyler Ervin, I hope he gets a good long look this week.

Aaron Wilson of the Chronicle said Newton is returning to practice this week but probably won't play in the last PS game. Here's the article: http://www.chron.com/sports/texans/...erek-Newton-returning-to-practice-9191042.php
Thanks; the report said he would practice on a limited basis. This morning's Chron said the same. IMO, he won't play until he's had at least one week of hard practice. I think he should have two weeks of hard practice to get back up to speed and conditioning before playing. But that's me. If he goes full speed next week, we may see him active against Chicago.

I was thinking the same thing the other night after we beat the Cardinals, but on the other hand it will be all second and 3rd string. Our starters have shown they are ready IMO. So win or lose it shouldn't do much to them mentally. Still i hate the cowboys and want to beat them no matter if it is preseason.

Good morning Texans fans! Tomorrow night the Texans roll into Dallas and take the Boot!
Savage will be the man of the day. Weeden will play clean up. I still see the Texans winning the turn over battle. Especially since it's likely that there will be more Texans fans than Cowgirls fans in the stands. In the past 3 years, the coaches and players have said it was more like a home game then an away game because of the large numbers of Texans fans present. I don't think it'll be any different this year.

GO TEXANS FANS! ROOT OUR TEAM TO VICTORY!:zipit:

It'll be fun to see if Clowney can run down Prescott.
Yes, I expect to see Clowney play at least the first series or two.

You may not see Dak tho since he's the starter and they can't really risk him being hurt

Neither player will play in this one. Neither team will be willing to expose a very important player to their respective team to injury. It's not going to have any starters in there for either team on either side of the ball. This game will be all about looking at the players on the bubble for both teams and evaluation.

Is that something coming out of the Dallas camp or just a guess? Wouldn't you want him to get all the reps he can get at this point?

That's one school of thought, but I'm thinking avoid getting him hurt no matter what

Just my opinion. I think it would be pretty risky, if not a little stupid, to put him on the field tomorrow. Something happens and they're down to some guy named Showers, or looking at a whole host of scrubs (Whitehurst, Mettenberger, Yates, Flynn, Davis, Lindley), or maybe having to trade for guys like Sanchez or Kaepernick.

I think the Dak hype is overblown but I'd still take him over any of those guys eight days a week.

I'd rather them all be kept out personally. 4th pre season game is such a waste of time to me. I'd rather keep our guys healthy.

Think I just liked seeing the progress and hate to see it grow stagnant, but I do agree, an injury to a key player in preweek 4 could be catastrophic and pointless in the grand scheme. So no argument on this one really.

I think you were just getting greedy, and wanted to see Oz still slinging those deep balls. :fans:

I feel ya though. Just want to make sure we get to see all of that in the season. Most excited I've ever been for a Texans season.

Three things I want to see tonight:
1) Our special teams continue to maintain lanes/assignments, they've improved greatly and I like the progress we've made. Bring that same intensity, continue knocking some heads around.
2) Tyler Ervin getting the majority of kickoff returns. Fluke or for real? I'm betting he's the real deal.
3) Better job of defending the run game, we were garbage in the second half against Arizona.

Optional 4) Let's not pretend the WR pass from Braxton Miller is some big secret that BOB is holding in his back pocket, let that baby fly against the Boys.

Williams and Weeden have hooked up on several occasions during camp. I don't recall seeing the deep ball once during any of the first three games. I'm talking about the ball in the air for 40 or 50 yards. I'd like to see the two of them put on a show.

I see Ervin as the real deal in the return game as well.

For Option 4, I think Brax can still throw the ball well (like a QB) 30 yards and under, but from what I've read, he can't throw the deep ball anymore. After his shoulder surgery he couldn't throw over 40 yards. A trick play could still work here, but not the traditional WR deep ball like we know it.
