Preseason Game 3 Thread: Texans @ Broncos

First Half thoughts? Here are mine as they happened.

Lewis Sanders couldn’t cover his own feet if you gave him a blanket

David Carr is still making “questionable” decisions.

I like this new defense. They come after people and keep coming after people.

Phillip Buchanon needs to earn a starting CB spot opposite Dunta but if he doesn’t then he’s a heck of nickel and he returns punts very well. If they hadn’t grabbed his face mask he’d have been gone.

Zach Weigert really hurt us with that pathetic attempt at stopping his man. That’s one sack. I find myself surprised that he’s the best option on the right side.

The defense really is much better this year.

Spencer’s hold was a disaster. Where is Wand?

TJ and Robaire aren’t exactly knocking me out. I’m wondering where Seth Payne is right now. I can’t believe he’s not one of the best two options at this position.

Do we really have 2 yards passing right now? Damn!

You can’t line up over the center on a FG attempt? You gotta be kidding me! Someday I’ll be watching the NFNFL (National Flag Nerf Football League). On the other hand why don’t’ the Texans know this? Could have been 3 but instead it’s 7. We better answer this.

Carr throws a pick. I swear I’ve been watching this boy play this position since 2002 and he’s the most snake-bit guy I’ve ever seen when it comes to deflected passes.

The offense today sucks terribly. The defense is the only thing working.

Carr, if judged by only this performance would have to be called a lousy QB based on everything I’ve seen up until this drive. This drive he’s looking ok.

That might be the only time in my life I ever hear anyone compare David Carr with Steve Young.

I’d almost forgotten what it was like to see a break go the Texans way. Lundy’s fumble was a nice “change of pace”. Too bad we couldn’t’ get the yardage.

God damn David Carr is so stupid. Spiking the ball on 3rd down when you have almost 25 seconds. 3 points. They'll spin it that they meant to do that but I don't buy it for a second.

That’s all they get is 3 points out of their best drive.

Why the **** do you WALK up to the LoS, stand behind center for 4 seconds then spike the freaking ball???? RUN THE DAMN PLAY!!!!

I think it is VERY telling that Kubiak didn't let Carr take a shot at the end zone.

I think thats a pretty big assumption. I would rather think it had more to do with Hochuli making an ill-timed "announcement".

I wish we would have given a quick shot to the endzone! Just throw a lil fade into the back of the endzone, and we should have a couple seconds left for a fg. Oh well at least we got some points out of it! Hopefully the offense will calm down and do something their next possession

How about when they were inside their own 10 and three running plays in a row that shows the confidence they have in carr.

There best drive had a time limit ;)

That's the word I wonder about...."let." Was that a coaching screwup or was that Carr's? Rarely have I ever seen such a stupid spike of the football. Whoever decided that was the way to do this goofed big-time.

I think our defense was exceptional given the fact that they had to fight against two short fields. That stupid call over the center cost bad. we should be back 3 not 7.

our defense is going to look bad in terms of PPG allowed if our defense cant pick em up. our defense is underrated. if only we had an offense...

David Carr does not look like an NFL quarterback from what I can tell during this preseason. I'm sure everyone is going to bark at me about the new offense, but he just doesn't have it. I am hurt by it more than anyone, but he really doesn't seem to have that "thing".

They ran the play as called by Kubes, but I don't understand.

What is even crazier is that Carr executed horribly. He should have taken it down to five seconds before spiking it. He does not understand this game.

Yep, the score should be 3 - 3.

I think Kubiak just wanted to put some points on the board . How devastating would it be to screw up at that point ?

Nice sum up H.

I would like to see Morency.

Some of Lundy's runs I think could have gone further with Mo. Oh, and there is that ball control thing that happened to work out the Texans way but could have cost points.

Ryans looks fantastic out there. He did get blown up by Kyle Johnson, but he's flying to the ball & brings some pain when arrives. Imagine what he'll look like when he's comfortable in the defense & packs on some more muscle.

Carr seems to do well with the play-action, running back plays, short to mid-passes to our WR. And short TE passes.

He's not good a the long pass.

TEXANS are doin great. Broncos were a game away from the SB last yr. Man, if Carr can settle down were gonna make some noise this year.

Even though the clock was running, I don't think Carr went to the LOS until the official let him.

The starters are playing into the 3rd quarter, so carr will prolly start and play through most of the 3rd quarter

I have no problem with this effort either. Denver is not lollygagging.

You're right about Denver's talent, but I am sick of making excuses. I don't think Denver is playing that well, and David Carr is a black hole. I am not pleased thus far.

First half effort by both teams looked like real season play. Just wish our offense looked like they were playing real season level.

Yeah, it looks like Denver came to play. But our offense wasn't ready.

It wasn't until the 2nd quarter that they woke up.

ill have to agree, if carr takes a whole quarter to get in the groove every game we are gonna go into the half behind more times than not

Kaiser Toro said:
What? Please elaborate.

The announcers said the clock was running when the officials were talking. I didn't catch it real time if that's what happenend. Apparently Kubiak was complaining to the officials about it.

I am seeing a trend here...

20 questions about Carr's ability to even play football at this level, let alone play well. Should we be asking this questions about an individual that leads our offense after 4 years?

Shoot me in the face please.

Well, call me crazy, but I'm excited by what I've seen. This defense is punching way above their weight class - even with a bunch of mistakes by young players, they're still largely getting it done, and in short field situations to boot.

The offense is looking decidedly poor, but remember, we're looking at Gold, DJ Williams, Al Wilson, Champ Bailey and John Lynch back there. That's some serious Pro Bowl talent.

We can let him play Madden on the sidelines for the 1st QTR to "warm up" and then put him in the second.

I think carr is playing pretty well so far. I mean the first couple of drives he was shaky but remember they are playing against a defense that practices against an offense like we run EVERY day and have been for years, they have a slight edge, so I think the Texans made some good adjustments and were able to move the ball well. Hopefully it contiues into the next half and I think it will.
