Almost anyone could have ran for that TD great job by the O-Line locking people up, but what happend to the Rams there? I would love to see that play in slowmo from a distance.

I believe it was Hogdon that was driving the Rams defender to the sidelines that opened that crater that Morency ran thru,nice job!

then on third and one, where he did everything right, except turn his head...... ..... Man..... surely you can understand someone being upset at that.

It's the second game of the preseason..... nobody wants to hurt their main man in the second preseason game... it should be common curtesy(sp) not to blitz every other play. every now and again, sure, but not like they are. How often are we sending a blitz?? not very much.
But it is a big surprise that so many teams are blitzing, last week especially.

I disagree..... I think PBuch is being picked on, but he's stepped up to the call well. If he'd have turned his head on that PI call, no one could say Dunta outplayed him..... Dunta has been getting beat often..... not as badly as McLeon, but he hasn't been right there, to make the plays like PBuch.

ok sorry im barely posting, i just got back to CC from htown and i would have posted after the game...o well.
things i liked:
-vernand morency. need i say more?
-pbuc when he wasnt committing pass interference.
-d-line play. everyone, especially peek and mario. everyone played great
-morlon greenwood.
-the agressive hits by greenwood on bulger and glenn earl on whoever he hit.
dislikes:
carr's performance...very inefficient and just below average all together. sage rosenfels had no problem getting rid of the football. at times, carr had enough protection, but hesitated to get the ball out. he takes WAAY too long making reads. he is also looked extremely tense. he had excessive body movements, happy feet, and didnt seem focused on finding recievers, but rather, finding the blitzers. rosenfels looked poise, confident, and overall, pretty darn good. now im not going to feed into the "qb controversy". i still think carr is the man, but i liked what i saw from sage more than what i saw in carr.
other dislikes: dexter mccleon....a few times. he was giving too much slack to the recievers like kevin curtis and that mcdonald guy.

I finally saw the game.
I like how aggressively the defense played. It looked like they were really hitting people hard! They really do swarm to the ball too.
Morency looked really, really good like everyone said. He, Lundy, and Davis when he is healthy will be tearing it up this season!
I am too excited about the positives to talk about Carr's first quarter.

Carr went 10-17 for 100 yards, no interceptions and 10 points in the first half. The previous regime would've been praising him. Kubiak was critical of his play. I'm absolutely thrilled! Carr will either improve or he will be benched by a QB that seems to be very compitent. I think he will improve and have a very good season. Regardless, we are going to have the best QB play in our 5 year existence this year and a good to dominate run game.

I like david carr, I usually support him, I think he will be a good maybe even great qb some time soon. having said that, he looks so gun shy it scares me, maybe he's scared, maybe he's thinking too much, but several others have said it about sage, poise...carr needs that poise and he needs to be able on 3rd and 3 to drop back, identify the blitz and throw the ball quickly. once he decides to throw the ball he has one of the best releases in the league and one of the best arms. someone please teach that guy some poise!

One thing which has always stuck out imo is DD has short legs for his height.

Yes you can, what do you think the this game was about? Hardly any rollouts and scrambles. They were sending a message to Carr "Trust your O-line", I think he got the point after his second series.hollywood_texan said:

you can tell him that but comeon i hardly think he would listen. its different being on the sideline with the headset as opposed to being on the field where, in the past 4 seasons, u live on the turf like david has. its traumatizing. when u get put on ur arse roughly half the time, its easy to not listen to ur coach tell you to trust an o-line that hasnt had enough time to prove that they are worthy to be trusted. ill give carr a little bit of time. his comfort behind the o-line will get better with time. he needs more snaps and the o-line needs to step up before carr can believe in them. poise is something u gain by adaptation. kubiak has no clue what it feels like to be put down to the turf on a regular basis. by the start of the regular season to around week 2 or 3, we will see a poise carr. i remember in 2004 how jittery carr was...especially in week 2 vs detroit. immediately after week 2, carr was staying in the pocket spreading the ball aound and using his wide recievers. it wont take long before we will see that again.Brandon420tx said:

if anything the coach is teaching him to get rid of the ball. Teams are less likely to blitz on 1st & 2nd down if all they are going to get is a loss of down... Give them a loss of Down & 7 yards, they'll come every time.

A preseason game would be the best time to throw him to the blitzing wolves and make him trust his O-line to keep him safe. In the regular season (and probably the rest of pre-season) he'll have the Bootleg back, but I'm pretty sure the coaches would like him to feel comfortable in the pocket so opposing teams don't constantly blitz the rollout option like saturday.

It's a two way street. I think his linemen will have more confidence in him when he proves he won't pull the ball down and run too soon when under pressure. I'm sure they would like to see him move around in the pocket to help them out when one lineman has a problem and make a play without perfect protection. I'm assuming that last year's full jail break rushes where the whole line caves in are extinct, or at least endangered.
