Prediction Time Steelers vs. Texans

SteelPhantom

Practice Squad
well i was born in houston, but grew up in pittsburgh. does that make me a traitor? oh well, i bleed black and gold and can't wait till the game starts. i think you guys will do well in the begining.....maybe jumping out with a TD on the first possesion (we're notorious for being soft defensively on the first possesion) but then i think our D will start dominating and our run game is going to go crazy.

final score:

Steelers: 34
Texans: 16

i think we'll win, but we may see you again in the playoffs.

Texans 17
Steelers 23

Texans can't find a consistent running game and are nagged by timing problems between AJ & Schaub. Texans D shows lack of outside speed to contain the run and the secondary makes a few crucial missteps.

Texans 27
Steelers 17

Texans receiving / return game save the day and the defense puts constant pressure on the Steelers O-line.

I just have a feeling the D will still play below their expectations for couple of games, and the offense will score a lot IMO. They will just have to pass the heck out of it unless they have been keeping their top secret run blocking scheme under lock and key for the ENTIRE preseason!! idonno:

I'm glad we're playing Pittsburgh. I think they're evenly matched with Jacksonville. Should be a good barometer for the division.

Long day for the D as the Steelers drive up and down the field at will all afternoon.

Steelers: 27
Texans: 17

From what I have seen during the preseason of the Steelers offensive line I doubt they will driving many places with the QB flat on his back.

I don't see us beating a contending team in their homefield on opening week. If it was week 10 then maybe, but right now we have big questions mark with the D and the running game. I see us getting run on early and often by the Steeler's RB duo. I also think Big Ben is going to have a big game, exploiting our weak secondary with our D-line being inconsistent as usual. Yea Pittsburgh o-line is mediocre, but when did our D-line became good enough to take advantage of mediocre opposing lines? mediocre vs. mediocre is equal last time I check. I think Schaub and the WRs will have a better game then Ben and his WR, only because our running game is useless and we have no other option on offense but to pass.

As much as I like to be optimistic, I just can't see us winning, even with my battle-red shades on.

Steelers:24

Texans:17

Close up til the 4th quarter with them pulling away in crunch time.

Up until the pre-season games started, I thought the Texans could go up to Pittsburgh and "steel" one. I know you don't put a lot of stock on the pre-season, but after watching the Cowboys starters run all over them, that got me a little worried.

Can they stop or slow down Parker and Mendenhall? Can they get somebody near Big Ben? If not, it could be a long day at the Ketchup.

That said, I'll go 34-28 Texans, with Slaton taking over for the injured Green and racking up 94 yards on 14 carries!!!:fans:

The Texans will not be denied their points. Their rushing will show improvement. Our defense should "bend not break." The Steelers will help our D with their own set of "mistakes."

Texans 27-20

Big Ben sacked four times, Texans win 28-17.:texflag:

I like your prediction but, I just don't see it. Have the Texans EVER had 4 sacks in a game? I don't remember and THIS team seems incapable of doing so against Southern University. I hope they surprise us. Our offense will keep it closer than it should be.

Steelers 24
Texans 17

Steelers 28 Texans 17

Texans offense struggles to run the ball, and Big Ben looks effecient behind a strong running game.

Special teams and our offense keep us in it. But our D cannot stop a 4th qtr drive by Rothesliberger & co. to win it.

Steelers - 27
Texans -- 26

Depends on how horrible the field is... if it's a dry game I'm saying 23-20 Texans... if the field looks like it's made of a pile of ****, 10-6 Steelers.

The Fifty States of the Steeler's Nation descend upon you!!! Ben Roethlisberger's touchdown passes will blot out the sun!!!

From what I have seen during the preseason of the Steelers offensive line I doubt they will driving many places with the QB flat on his back.

I was listening to a national talk show, and they were talking about the Squealers O-Line. They didn't have too many positive things to say. It feels good not to have the worst O-Line anymore!

Ugly at half-time. Our passing game almost brings us back, but our D can't stop the run and Pitt runs the clock out.

Texans can't quite Ketchup at Heinz Field.

Texans couldn't mustard up enough Defense to hold off the Steelers at Heinz Field.

Texans 24 - Steelers 20

AJ & Schaub connect for a 50+ yard TD grab. Green gets somewhere around 15 total touches. Slaton runs for 74 yards on 12 carries. Taylor chips in 20 yards in limited work.

Mario finishes the day with 1.5 sacks & the pass rush is able to pressure Big Ben into at least one turnover. Reeves gets burned by Ward for a TD.
