Power Rankings!

Kind of Early for this, but it is an expression of what some people think. Looks like we're rated at the lower end of the totem pole. You make of it what you want, but I think there are a lot of reasons to question what our season will be like this year.

seems about right. we had a fairly low level of activity and even though continuity is a big thing in football, it isn't a big deal in covering football, so the teams that made the most changes like the vikings will be higher on the rankings because they have more compelling stories for a national media, not to mention the fact that we are an expansion team with less career franchise wins than the steelers had last year (playoffs included).

so 24 seems about right to me, saying that we are one of the better teams that has been in the cellar in the last few years and if this is the year we put it together we make that rapid ascent.

Can someone tell me how the cardinals are ranked ahead of the texans? I know that they have improved but not that much. Also, does anyone else think that the lions are ranked a little high?

Getting rid of experienced people like Glenn and substituting youth puts you down the line until you show something. I suspect the O-line has something to do with our ranking. After all ESPN has even made commercials on it. We are sort of the laughing stock of the league.

Before the 2003 season that was true. Right now I think a lot of people see us on the verge of making it to the playoffs. I personally think we are 8-8 talent right now. We get a legitimate LT and a TE before 2006, and that would make a huge difference for this offense.

I guess we should be use to receiving NO respect from the 'perts. These are the same *****s that said Rogers was better than AJ.
If our O-line gives Capers/Palmer the confidence to take the gloves off, we're in the playoffs. There is NO reason why we can't run shotgun with 4 wides and 1 RB at least 15 times a game. We'd seriously give Indy a run for their money for the AFC South. Between AJ, Mathis, Gaffney & Armstrong, we have the very reasonable potential to be in the top 5 in passing. Let's not forget about Thomas incase we have an injury.

The only thing that's a bit bothersome is the lack of a great TE. Joppru...take your vitamins, man! :dangit:

jags 13.......... :brickwall dont we kick the crap out of these guys every year! I am making my own power ranking:

1.Texans
2-32. Everyone else

The really funny thing about this is that your Power Ranking carries almost as much weight as the ESPN Power Ranking. I enjoy looking up the Power Rankings during the season and watching the Texans climb but this time of year these things are even more meaningless than usual.

well i dont care if we were starting ALL rookies we should be ranked higher than the cardinals !

I think the Cardinals OFF which could be a juggernaut this year is why they are ahead of us. Many say they had one of the best drafts.

Of course we aren't flashy with our stuff and our draft wasn't all that exciting so we'll have to see how things pan out. I agree the fact that we got younger set us back down a bit. We got rid of a lot of experience and replaced it with youth who now have to learn how to play together. I think give us a year and a real SOLID draft and we are in the top 10 of rankings next year.

All that said....we are going 16-0. lol

That O-line is broke and NOBODY to GROOM cept a 5th rounder and big fat Undrafted Drafted FAs. All our backups are bums. I would not rank the Texans high. Carr will have to use his feet like uhhh the last 3 seasons.

Some foo will come out and say..... Carr is developing Happy Feet. Ughhhhhhh

:brickwall :brickwall :brickwall

Its amazing how many times the happy feet syndrone appears in these columns.

I saw this same post on one of my other sites i post on. I said the same thing about the Jaguars is said on there that we should be atleast higher than the Jags bc i thought we would have a better record than them. I just think people think because we released Sharper, Foreman and Glenn and replaced them with Greenwood, Peek and Buchannon doesnt mean we went downhill.

They say that the Jags made a four game jump. Didn't they sqeek by on many of their wins last year? Didn't Chicago do the samething several years ago? And where are they now?

Cardinals could go deep into the playoffs with their defense alone...

I'm not as optimistic this year as I was this time last year. I'm more than a little disappointed that we drafted for depth on the D-line instead of trying to pick up O-line help.

Don't get me wrong. D-line is extremely valuable in trying to build a stellar defensive unit, but our O-line has been a weak link since Bosseli crapped out on us with the expansion draft.

I think 8-8 is reasonable and the possibility is there for more, I just don't see how we made ourselves much better in the short or long term withour off-season moves. I like the Buch pickup, but treading water seems to be the most accurate description the sense I get from our team momentum right now.

Go Texans.

this is my take. I think our D will be good this year. I think Walker, Payne and Smith all had an off season. I also think with the addition of Johnson it will keep one of the backups who arent that good off the field and give us an extra rusher. LB i think will be alot better esp in the passing game. I think our CB are some of the best and safties are good in my opinion.

Our O is where my questions are. I think if Wand has a good season then it will be a good season for us. This will give Carr time to throw and holes for Davis and co to run through. Which if Davis and co. are running really well then Carr will have time to throw to Johnson, Bradford and Gaffney. I have read an article on this site that said that they want to give Bradford some more routes that are better suited for him. I hope this is the season we are all hoping Bradford will have. I only see us moving up i really cant see us going down.... i am such an optimist huh.... I also think if we incorperate our TE core then it will also open things up.... i cant wait i wish football went on longer.
