Potential Sleepers In The Draft

Afrokid

Practice Squad
Who do you think could possibly be the outburst players in this draft? My list goes something like:

1. Marcus Vick - Hes only played 1 year in college and has already shown great potential. Imagine if he played his Sophmore year and his senior year? As i previously stated he would fit in 100% in the ravens.

2. Abdul Hodge - Over looked LB whos shown just as much play making ability as AJ Hawk. He will make a team very very happy, and i predict him to be defensive rookie of the year.

3. Devin Hester - Great athelete and return man. Has the potential to be a CB or WR but i believe he will be a WR in the pros. Hes gonna make a great 3rd or 4th round pick.

4. LenDale White - Not really a sleeper, but he could possibly be the most solid back in this draft.

5. Zemaitus - CB From Penn State - Not really considered a top CB in college but hes got everything he needs to be a star in the nfl.

Ok. First:Vick just got kciked off the team at Va Tech. He will either have to declare for the draft or go to DIAA. Yeah, not the guy i would trust with my team.

2. I have seen Hodge in mocks go in the late first early second.

3. Not super familair with Hester.

4. Lendale will likely be in the top 20, not really a sleeper in my mind.

5.Zemaitus will be a second rounder or late first. not really a sleeper in my mind.

Just my :twocents:

If we don't go the Bush route, I wouldn't mind seeing Maurice Drew (Reggie Bush Lite) in a later round.

Why would we add another RB in a later round to sit the bench behind Davis, Morency, and Wells?

If we were going to do that we might as well add tony hollings. The only way I see us adding an extra RB is if Torian Henderson last till the 6th or 7th.

obviously they are expecting one not to be here next yr...

I actually really like Drew. He would be a nice pick up in the later rounds.

As for Hester he seems like a Chris Gamble type of player, but I doubt he goes as high as Gamble. IMO He will probably fit best as a CB in the NFL. He's played some WR, CB, and returned punts and kicks for Miami, but when I've seen him play he seems more comfortable as a CB. His KR ability might entice a team to take him late in the 2nd round, but I think he's more likely to be taken in rounds 3 or 4.

Vick is the kind of player I don't want on my team. Shannahan let his ego fool him into taking Clarrett at the end of Round 3, and he definately regrets that pick. Vick has already found himself in more trouble with the law than Clarrett had, and the game against Louisville only added more proof to Vick's poor character. I don't see any team taking him in the first day, and probably not in the first 5 rounds. In the 6th or 7th maybe a daring GM/Coach will decide to take a chance.

clarett had one good season as a freshmen, while vick had a good year as a jr. and is comming off that good year. I think hes worth the gamble. Or maybe im just a crack baby...but hell his brother did a number to Atlanta and wins games (sometimes very magically o.O) and i believe Marcus has the talent to do the same.

The Ravens already have a bad track record and all and he would fit perfect their. Boller isn't the answer there, and they need a mobile QB with a fading offensive line.

There will be lots of mobile QBs in the draft, and none with near as lengthy a record as Vick. Omar Jacobs would be a nice fit. He doesn't have near the character issues of Vick, and assuming Young comes out, Jacobs might be available in the late 2nd round or perhaps early in the 3rd.

Clarrett was a 3rd round pick who couldn't even make it on the Broncos roster or even their practice squad. Marcus has talent, but not enough talent to make a team ignore his character flaws.

true, but we've seen what V Young can do, we've seen what Omar Jacobs can do, and we've seen what Cutler and Leinhart can do. What we haven't seen is what Marcus Vick can do.

I think Hester is best suited with the ball in his hands...I don't see him playin much DB in the NFL

I think we have seen what Vick can do, and I'm just not sold that his talent outweighs his baggage. Some players are worth the problems that come along with them like LT (the original). Marcus Vick doesn't seem to me to be that caliber of player. Just a difference of opinion I guess.

This is what I posted about Maurice Clarett:

Sometimes there's just not much you can do with headcases. And Clarett is most certainly a head case.

Lawrence Phillips - 1,453 career rushing yards
Rashaan Salaam - 1,682 career rushing yards
Curtis Enis - 1,497 career rushing yards
Eric Bieniemy - 1,589 career rushing yards

Still think lack of character and maturity has nothing to do with playing football? All 4 of those guys had the same if not more ability than Clarett. None of them ever had an impact on the league. Why? Because they lacked character and maturity. These are 4 guys I think of when I think of Clarett.

I just don't buy into everything that's said about him. Again, I have yet to see anything special about the guy. What's so amazing about him? He hasn't done anything on or off the field that I haven't seen many times before. He averaged 112 yards per game his freshman season (11 games...1237 yards) and I'm supposed to roll over for that?
Just substitute Clarett with Vick and you've got my viewpoint.

And what has Vick shown from a leadership standpoint (vastly underrated for the QB position) this year?

IMO, he might make a decent DB. But he can forget about playing QB.
