Portable gass grills

I am a 100% charcoal guy. I have never cooked on a gas grill. That being said, I am gonna have to buy one after being hit by Dolly yesterday and being out of electricity for 24 hrs. 24 hrs is really nothing but this was only a cat 1 storm, I can only imagine if it was cat 3 or higher, I will surely be without power for more than 24 hrs. Probably days or weeks. Anyway, I want to buy a portable gass grill that I can also tailgate with. I don't really want to cook meat on it, I will still use charcoal for that, but I want it to maybe cook with pans when tailgating, e.g., rice, Beans, soups. I am cluless what to buy, any suggestions?

Glad to see you made it thru safely. The power outage part sucks. We use something similar to this for camping and tailgating

we run them off the same gas cylindar. They are nice a portable and should do the trick for now. Hopefully, you will be able to find them in stores by you.

How long do the gas cylinders last? Are they easy to connect? Do you cook meat on the little red one?

Our camp stove hooks up to a full size cylindar. They last a pretty long time, we have two we interchange.

My husband is a boy scout troop leader and they camp all the time. I suggested these because they are portable and will do nicely for tailgating also.

The red one we use just like a grill. It doesn't have a big surface, but is nice and portable.

Dave has some connector thingy that splits and connects both devices. An academy staffer should be able to help explain it.

Thanks Glass..

I have one similar to the red one Glass linked to for tailgating. The propane bottle lasted the entire ten games last year, and I even used it last month when I was down in your neck of the woods on a fishing trip (Laguna Vista) on the same bottle. I cooked meat on it almost exclusively, but only hot dog and hamburgers.

Did you catch anything?
