Ponder this Scenario

This could be a far fetched reality but just from a talent standpoint think about this for a second.

1. Pete Carroll takes the job of New HC for the Texans and chooses Reggie Bush as his first pick. ( I am not saying Bush is the lone answer for this franchise or that trading down is not a good idea).

2. Terrell Owens learns the error of his "detrimental" ways (somehow) and the Texans decide to give him a chance.

3. Solidify the O-line and D with a couple of good acquisitions in FA and wise draft picks. Also draft a good TE, I'm thinking D Thomas for UT.

Then we could possibly have Carr, TO, Mathis, AJ, Davis, Bush, and Thomas all on the field at once. Combine with a better D and good coaching we could turn around things rather quickly.

Hypothetically speaking (and I mean hypothetically) we would have a very potent offense. I am not saying this would have a high probability of happening....but just think about the offensive weapons for a sec!

every thing but # 2 sounds good to me. Personally i would not shake T.O.'s hand i don't respect him in the least.

yeah, #2 is a stretch, but I am putting him in this crazy idea from a talent standpoint, he will probably never change. But I think the remaining ideas are much more viable options.
 
great theory but NO WAY a new coach gets stuck with TO his first year back.

That would be the equilivent to Spurrier coming to the league and getting stuck with the Seminoles logo on his teams' helmet in his 1st year.

Another problem with this is that we'd only have four OL on the field and one of these guys would have to block and be an ineligible receiver (1 QB + 2 RB + 3 WR + 1 TE = 7 players). This is an interesting situation, but like Big B Texan Fan said it would probably only work on Madden, and I'm not fond of bringing T.O. in here.
 
i would replace T.O with Charles Rogers. He has amazing talent and will be available this offseason. T.O. would only be used drew henson style: work him out until he is ready to show he can still play, then trade him for a pick or two.

I am not a proponent of bringing in T.O. either, i was just talking talent, I think he will always create friction. And I meant to put Davis or Bush, but with in 2 wr set we could still have 2 RB in the backfield.
 
if the Texans can win 3 out of the last 4 my money is on Cappers staying with a new OC, new line coach & DC for 06. if that doesn't work then they :bomb: blow it up and bring in someone like Carroll :cool:
 
1. Possible. Bush could be a likely candidate (if he decides to go into the NFL), but from what I've gathered, Carroll likes the college game and is having unbelievable success at the moment. I seriously doubt he leaves the top of the NCAA pile to come to the bottom of the NFL at this time.

2. T.O. = NO! Mr. McNair has already said in interviews that he has absolutely no interest in bringing a known team-killer to Houston. Dude has mad talent, perhaps the top in the NFL right now, but his head is screwed on the wrong way, and his distruptions would set this team back years.

Capers would have to do some serious bargaining to keep his job even with winning three out of four to finish the year. I think he could do it if he really wanted to because I think McNair likes him, but I doubt he will sell out his coaches and can all of them and point the appropriate amount of blame to them, but it is possible.

Carroll has entertained the idea of returning to the NFL, but he would want some GM duties too so he can basically have full control over what players he has, and giving someone HC and GM duties usually doesn't work well. He has also said that some teams he would not leave to coach, but some teams would be an option, and Houston was one of those teams. USC looks like they are losing some serious talent this year and might fall off the ranks of #1 in NCAA football, especially if Vince Young and a couple of the UT people stick around, so he might opt out while he's on top. I guess we'll know in 5-6 weeks.
 
An interesting thought Mork. I could see Carroll coming out if he is given full control and USC becoming a above average team instead of a stacked team. I have heard though that he has a new QB in the same mold as Palmer and he wants to see what he can do, plus he has taken it personally that his defense is so bad.
 
its a bad plan considering in you scenario you are not addressing the defense. That is just as equally or if not worse that the offense.

If you bring in a new coaching staff be prepared for hard times for at least a season (see N. Chow etc...)
 
ESPN reports that Carroll is staying put and he won't interview for other jobs. This might be a smoke screen so that it doesn't distract the USC players the next couple of weeks.

How can you blame the guy? Kicking ***** and coaching a powerhouse such as USC has got to be a better gig than coaching a crappy team in the NFL.
