Players Stepping It Up

I remember on the 2nd day of the draft last year in the 4th round, I was sitting on my couch and my heart was pounding with every pick read. I didn't hear is name called after about 10 picks. I was stunned. Then came the Texans on the clock. I jumped up off my couch and waited to yell.......yell for joy if we were smart enough to pick him, or yell and cuss the heck out of the Texans front office. I yelled for joy when I heard Mathis' name called, and I thought it was the best pick and the smartest they have made yet as an organization. He is showing it tonight.

Right now I'm so proud of the Texans special teams, returing a kickoff 99 yards for a TD, "showtime" returning a punt to put us in feild goal range (before AJ made a stupid mistake) and then before the end of the half and Mathis almost got him #2 on the night.

When we start rebuilding the rebuilding project at the end of the season, at least we know we have a solid base on special teams. With Mathis returning kicks, a solid kicker and punter, I think we are set for a couple of years, and thats big. Specail teams are the most important team on the feild. They are the ones that change the outcome of a game with one play, and Mathis can do that.

And how about Joe Marciano? If we lose him this offseason, it will be the biggest lose to this team. He is the best and most energic coach on the sidelind, something this team needs. Joe Marciano for Head Coach!

Lewis Sanders has made some big plays on specail teams and really set the tone for us in the 2nd half with a pick on defense to get us somewhat back in this game.

Now lets see who else brings the meat and proves they deserve to be on this team in a time of ergency.

DD is playing another great game...........How about him and Bush lined up in the same backfeild together next year?

Jabar Gaffney proves again he can't catch a freakin ball to save his life.....would he even be on half of the other team's roosters in the league? He was just thrown to so much in Florida he had to catch a couple of balls.

Why didn't we draft Derrick Johnson and drafted a back-up DT? And you wonder why we are the worst team stopping the run.

I think you forgot the "Sarcasm" smiley or something because I don't know how in the world 57 yards on 13 attempts (plus his 3 catches for 53 yards) at this point could possibly be construed as "another great game".

Must be sarcasm.

You cant possibly be blaming Davis for that can you?? You can only do so much when you have a total of 1 carry in the 1st quarter and not many more after that.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm "blaming" Davis for that. I hardly think it would be fair to place blame on a single player for 78 net yards rushing. 15 or so rushes tells me that they were behind and he didn't get many carries.

Still while I don't personally think that Bush is what we need to do (LT please) I can safely say that if we do draft him DD is going to the bench at best or to another team in exchange for something better than a 4 if we're lucky.

I like Domanick Davis and he's a servicable running back for this team, at this time. When he's done though you will be able to count the total number of truly great games he ever had on one hand.

True, but until this team can get to the point where "servicable" players arent good enough anymore, I think he will do just fine. Right now servicable players would be an upgrade at most positions.
