Did anyone else hear that comment by the CBS broadcasters today? They said, and I think this is a pretty accurate quote, "Dom Capers is a good guy. And his players like playing for him. In this morning's conference, they stood by and defended him as a coach" Did anyone else hear that? I almost wish WE had T.O. so he could blast D. Capers up and down the media, and maybe that would catch Mr. McNairs attention!

They know he's not coming back so why make themselves look TOish and bad mouth him?
As part of my promotion of the United Texans Fanatics week that I'm advocating, I shall refrain from comment on the current employment status of Coach Capers. 
I am glad to hear that our players are classy guys and understand how to be respectful to a situation. The last thing we need is the negative drag of a player like TO.

I dont think anybody ever said that was the case. Its pretty much common knowledge that we have some of the worst overall talent in the NFL. Still is the moves that dont have anything to do with the players that make you realize these guys dont have what it takes. Examples just from todays game include kicking a field goal to keep us down by two scores and punting with 4 minutes left when we were still down by those two scores.Marcus said:Could it also be that the players are owning up to the fact that they are as responsible as the coaches?

I just think that Capers, Casserly, and staff should be given a little more respect than some of you have shown. These are all good people who want more than any of us to see this team be successful.
I think it's terrible the way some on this board mock Capers, from the way he talks, to his mannerisms on the sideline, the note-taking, what he says after the games, etc. You will not find a classier gentlemen in this league, bar none!
I'll bet the next coach won't nearly be as accomodating to either the fans, or the media.

The avatar represented how I feel about the job that Casserly is doing. I didn't find that any more offensive than the pink soap. I don't see how that made fun of the way he talks or carries himself on camera.

Anyhow, the reason why the players like Capers is not that he let's them slack or anything, but because he is professional and treats them like men.
I've spoken to a couple of players about Capers, and I am sure that as a fan I might not get the whole picture, but from what I understand is that they like him because he is straightforward and doesn't lie to them, doesn't play head games or drama stuff, keeps discipline, and because he is prepared and teaches them stuff they don't know.
I recognize Capers probably won't be back next year, and there are all sorts of valid complaints people can make about how things are going, but I really do think that the players like Capers. You don't need to read anything weird about that, or think the players are lying about it.
I don't think there is any controversy that Capers is a decent guy. I know the expectations prior to the season were high by some, but in my mind we have had the perfect storm of how to have a bad season--hardest schedule in the league to date and a lot of key injuries to a team without much depth. I know all sorts of people take comfort in the idea that Capers is "the problem" and everything would be solved if Jimmy Johnson or whoever other savior was here but I am not sure what coach could have made 2005 a great season for the team.
I know that people don't like his coach speak about effort and execution blah blah blah, but personally I don't think it would be helpful to fly off the handle and say something panicky and unprofessional and dump the team in the grease.
I really believe the team is still playing hard for him, and I think there are some Ws that are going to come later in the season.

I agree Marcus. My past criticism of Coach Capers has tried to stay focussed on the professional coach, not the individual. I have always advocated that all critics keep it respectful and within the bounds of football.
I have a lot of respect for Coach Capers, and my past intentions with joining the pink soap conspiracy pertained solely to the job performance.
But that criticism has been temporarily suspended for a week, because it's time to drink the koolaide for next Sunday night, because we must all unite our thought processes to create a positive mental state.
This will make sure fans do their part in helping the Texans to VICTORY over the Chiefs!
