Picking #1 Again !

Could those of you who want an OL or a RB in the 1st round explain to me why? I know we need them...but we have a coach who has a proven philosophy that you don't need a 1st round OL or RB to be successful.

We need another good couple of OL in the 3rd round or lower this year and we'll be fine. As for RB, I like the idea of Peterson myself, but we don't need a high profile running back. If Kubiak passed on the "sure thing" in Reggie Bush, why would he take a different running back the next year?

I still think our most pressing need is defensive secondary, with our 1st round coming either as a Safety or CB and the opposite coming through free agency. Following that, we need some LB's and DT's.

Why couldn't we get the LT Joe Thomas and move Spencer over to right tackle? We really need to build up our offensive line.

No brainer!

Do you think New England would trade that pick ?

I have a hard time seeing them trade up into the top three for a player....

Unless they were trying to trade up for Calvin Johnson....

And that'd probably take a #1 pick....

I don't know if New England would swap with the Texans for a higher pick, but it would sure be worth a phone call to see if they were even remotely interested.
Do the Pats need a receiver?

Calvin Johnson or Joe Thomas are the only two guys I could see the Patriots trading up that high to get....

If the Patriots are smart they won't trade away both their first rd. picks for a higher first....

I doubt that we get the #1 pick. BUT, in the event that we do, trade it for more picks. In all seriousness I don't think we'll pick #1 after the season.

I'd like to see us get Joe Thomas. But I am starting to think that, as good as he is, we would still be OK picking O linemen later in the draft. I read something about they have better value later in the draft, and I think that may be true. Maybe we should go with a Defensive Back as our 1st pick, we surely need help there.

I'm hoping that if we get a top 5 pick we trade back to about 10-12 and pick up an extra third....then pick poslunzsky in the first rd...Him, Meco, and Mario would be a good young nucleus....I ithink we can get a starting FS in the second...and pick up a quality OL and CB in a later rd....

So the DC bashers such as yourself will finnaly get to see what life is like on the other side. Enjoy Bradley. By God in my book, after three years of reading the b!@#$chin, you deserve what's coming.

Also I'm not a Carr basher, look at my handle. I supported the guy for whats going on 5 years, but as a fan on this board it is my right to criticize and debate his performance without being labeled a "DC Basher". There is nothing I would love to see more than to see him succeed, but that doesn't mean I'm going to turn a blind eye either........

Yeah, we could use the help at linebacker too...I guess regardless of what position we draft for, we need the help.

Bomb, you can win with the apologist mentality.

Come on!! Chant with me!!

"Dave is great, Dave is good, and we thank him for his arm"......

We will probably get a top 10 pick and when we do I think we need to trade down and try and pick up a couple 1st rounders. We get a safety and a CB to go along with Dunta and then in the second round get a WR (Walter has done next to nothing this year and have someone to eventually replace Moulds) and from there out get offensive lineman. I believe OL is the position you can get the most quality at in the later rounds which is why I'd like to take care of some other needs before then. We definately need to address the secondary and the OL, and if we hit it right like we did this year I think we'll be greatly improved for next year.

Hmmm. How has walter shown nothing??? everytime he is on the field and is called upon he is productive!! Just about every ball thrown to him in clutch situations was for a first down!! The Texans did not pay him the money to be #3/4, I think he will make a challenge for the #2 spot next season with Moulds. You cannot say he has done nothing when the Texans RARELY used a 3WR set because they had to keep TEs in to protect Carr.

Don't be too hastey on judging Kevin Walter. He has done his job when called upon. Reliable!! Give him more opportunities to be on the field, he will graciously surprise you. I am sure that Kube saw that when they immediately went after him in FA.
