11. Texans: Prince Amukamara, cornerback, Nebraska.

The Texans have many needs as they switch from a 4-3 to 3-4 defense. Ultimately, they’re expected to focus on cornerbacks and outside linebackers. Corner is the more obvious weakness after opposing receivers ran through Houston’s secondary uncovered all last year.

I don't think PFT does too much scouting/projecting in general, but worth a quick glance.

I can't really take this too seriously if they think CB is a bigger need than S for the Texans. We have young CB talent, we have older, terrible safeties with no hope of development.

In saying that I would take Prince, but Prince does need some safety help deep.

Prince would make a great FS.

Imagine a secondary of CB's Bailey in FA, Allen, Jackson nickle

SS Quin, FS Prince

I think I like it.

All guys that played cornerback last year? That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I would be ok with Amukamara at #11 if they think he is a #1 corner. We have Jackson, Quin, McManis as young corners to develop already though. I would perfer a FA corner to pair with Quin and having Jackson play the nickel.

The Amukamara pick looks good if you intend on moving Quin to FS.
Add in McDaniel in the 2nd round in that scenario and you get an interesting secondary:

#1 CB: Amukamara. SS: McDaniel FS: Quin. #2 CB: Jackson
Nickelback: McManis/FA

or

#1 CB: Quin. SS: McDaniel FS: Wilson/Nolan. #2 CB: Amukamara
Nickelback: Jackson/FA

I really dont want them to pick Prince.

But whatever it takes to get some guys back there that can cover somebody even if you have to give up alot in defending the run would be OK with me.

After 76 Texans write up on McDaniel, I would trust his evaluation on McDaniel more than Rick and Garys.

Rd.1 Smith or Houston
Rd.2 McDaniel or Carter
Rd.3 Fua or Ellis

This would be a successful first 2 days of the draft. IMHO

I know I shouldn't judge Prince solely on his game tape versus Justin Blackmon, but I can't help but question his ability to cover elite receivers without additional support from safeties.

At this point, here's a list of the guys I would want:

A.) Justin Houston, OLB

B.) Brandon Harris, CB

C.) Von Miller, OLB
