People who just don't get it...

The first pick in the draft is NOT TO FILL A NEED, it is to TAKE THE BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE!!!

I keep reading how "we filled a need", "we didn't need Bush", "we didn't need Vince", etc. etc. What a bunch of monkey crap. Any draft guru will tell you, at the top of the draft you take the best guy. And it's blatantly clear that the best guy here is NOT Mario Williams. It's Reggie Bush.

Mario is a guy who got sacks in 16 of 36 games. Reggie was a difference maker, a Heisman winner with crazy moves and ridiculous speed. Say what you want about Reggie's carry load per game, but he averaged nearly 9 yards a carry. What more do you want out of a guy?

Apparently, being the best guy is not enough. We had to "fill a need" -- even though we just signed Weaver to a big deal.

I had been looking forward to this day since the "BUSH BOWL" -- anyone remember how much we wanted to lose to SF to get Reggie, and how excited we were when it happened???? -- and instead of Reggie or Vince or trading down or whatever, we take an unproven project? Great job.

I'm breaking into my stock of emergency beer. This qualifies.

And one more thing -- why is there this notion that we need to sign the guy before the draft day? If this was the pressure deadline that caused the Texans to pick Mario, WTF???? YOU DON'T HAVE TO SIGN THE GUY BEFORE THE DRAFT! You make the pick and go from there if you haven't signed the guy yet.

Just unbelievable all around.

Hey have fun watchin the Saints, I'll be thinkin about ya when we're makin the playoffs and you're wearing brown bags over your heads in week 16

dude i live in so cal and this one time i was at vons an bush was there too and we both went for the same box of cap'n crunch (it was the last one) and i beat him to it, like real bad. it was obvious to me then that bush was not a once in a 10 year pick or whatever. the worst part is he didnt even give me props, just took fruit loops instead, no fire in this guy at all.

god Kubiak must have just forgotten that rule the last few days-rookie mistake......its not like he could've thought Mario was the BPA is it

go to the saints,il miss you and your 78 posts

...so why is every other NFL team lining up for 'need' in the first round? IMO, the Texans biggest problem from the start was not establishing their lines, OL and DL. We've never had a pass rush nor protected the QB. Too, we've got good running backs. This was a good choice.

Chuck Klosterman, the author of the "Wrong Guy" on ESPN's Page 2, makes his living off of spinning stories. His profession only requires a gift of gab. It is very easy to come out of the closet after something has occurred. Can anyone share why I could care less about what he says?

PEOPLE JUST DON'T GET IT

The best available player, for the Houston Texans, is Mario Williams. How many of you last November were saying..."Ah man, we need a QB or OMG can't McNair see we need a runningback!!!!"....? Everyone I know was saying "It sucks seeing David giving it up every week as he has no protection and where is the rush?"

I challenge each of you to get over this and join the Texans as they try to lift themselves into a Superbowl contender position. Stop listening to out of town spin authors trying to sell advertisement.

Totally agree. I can't recall a single person complaining about anything more than the need for linemen. Sure the DD durability issue came up but for the most part no complaints.

This doesn't change anything for me, still looking forward to the season.
