I agree with you...PP would be the answer to our 2nd reciever prayers...He can run, BLOCK, and Catch...I wonder how much he would cost?

Price is a weapon Gaff and Armstrong are not. Don't know about Mathis, but i bet he ain't no Price.
Pass as well. Unfortunatley the NFL teams are based around a salary cap. I see no need to go and lock up Price with a huge contract considering we will have to award some large contracts next year (Davis, Gaffney, Pitts, etc..). And, pending the left tackle situation this year, we may have to go spending next year on our most apparent problem.

Doesnt look too bad to me, especially with the run first throw second mentality of M. Vick. If we could get him in here for a one year deal to see how he performs I wouldnt be disapointed at all.... if the $$$ is right that is.

Prices's numbers are down because he's not as good as he was with the Bills. In fact, Price only had 1 good season (2002). He's extremely overrated and the Falcons have known this since he 1st stepped on the field for them. Don't you find it odd that Atlanta has used 1st round picks on WRs in back-back drafts? Based on last year even the raw numbers are unanimously against Price. As a full time starter he got targetted 106 times, dropped 5 and only managed to haul in 45 for 575 yds gaining 1st downs on just 26% of his receptions. Gaffney as a part time starter turned his 68 targets (with just one drop) into 41 receptions for 632 yds and got 1st downs on 50% of his receptions. Heck even Derick Armstrong had more 1st downs than Price. But hey, there is the added benefit of spending more money.

while i dont disagree Price might be something we should look into, it would only be if it were maybe a two year contract, so we dont rush mathis if he isnt ready, but word outta camp is that he is impressing the coaches.... Gaff dropping the ball isnt taking the play off, he just made a mental error, and probably wont ever do that again.... armstrong was on our roster, he was a slot receiver, and he might have played some opposite AJtitan hater said:

Yes, Atlanta is run first, pass second. But, Price still got TARGETED 106 times and only hauled in 45 for 575. Gaffney was TARGETED 68 times and caught 41 for 632. So, Gaffney had 38 FEWER passes thrown at him, only caught 4 LESS than Price, and still got more yardage...not to mention a 50% First Down ratio. Price is overrated...I would take Gaffney over him any day of the week.
Price succeeded in BUF b/c he was a #2 WR w/ Moulds drawing the doubles. (He also had a pocket passer.) Then ATL offered up the dough, he bolts, and now he's the #1 WR seeing the doubles. All with a running QB and without a viable #2 WR. Bad, bad spot for him, IMO. AJ would take all the defensive pressure off of him that Moulds did (if not more.) I think he'd fit in well here.
If cut, bring him I say. Then when we cut Matt Murphy, he can have his #81.

Gaffney doesn't have the speed to play on the outside and belongs in the slot.

Someone doesn't get resigned or we miss out on a free agent next year if we sign Price. Do you really want to add Price to an already strong WRing corp at the expense of something else? Don't you understand what's being said? Gaffney caught 41 balls in 68 attempted passes (61% which is excellent considering he averaged about 15 yards per catch). That is a very good rate. If he starts, he would still see single coverage. He is good. He is not what is holding this team back. Not to mention the fact that Price wouldn't be an answer anyway.

I am not going to pass judgement on Mathis until I see what he can do. The highlights from college do peek my interest in him. In a 4-WR set He would probably play on the outside with Gaff and Armstrong playing inside. My ral question about Mathis is the 3-WR set that we seem to use more often.
PP is officially a castoff from another team if he is released. Just like Shelton he has some sort of baggage that is not in the "brochure". I like Gilligans island as much as anyone, but I don't want the "Skipper" playing LT and Gilligan as WR.

Just a general question. Isnt Peerless the Atlanta number one receiver? If that is true, who is their number 2 or 3. It is possible his numbers are down becuase he is targeted becuase there is nobody else there who can take pressure off him. It is also possible he is overrated. I am not sure which.

It's like people are stuck in that whole "we've got nobody" mentality and they can't get past thinking like that. We've had four drafts now plus one expansion draft. We've signed free agents every year since 2002. We have players. We don't need everyones cast offs.
