Just heard that Peerless Price could be let go from the Falcons. If this happens this would be an awesome sign for us. Our #2 receiver prayers would be answered.

PeekFan24 said:Pass. Gaffney, Armstrong or Mathis are all viable #2's. Carr throws to AJ like 60% of the time anyway. Why waste money bringing in a guy who will want to be overpaid to play #2 whenn we already have young players who can satisfiably fill that spot?

Doesnt look too bad to me, especially with the run first throw second mentality of M. Vick. If we could get him in here for a one year deal to see how he performs I wouldnt be disapointed at all.... if the $$$ is right that is.

Receptions-0
Yards-0
Touchdowns-0
Mathis hasn't proved anything yet, Jabar has.
Prices's numbers are down because he's not as good as he was with the Bills. In fact, Price only had 1 good season (2002). He's extremely overrated and the Falcons have known this since he 1st stepped on the field for them. Don't you find it odd that Atlanta has used 1st round picks on WRs in back-back drafts? Price is no longer even a good #2 WR.titan hater said:...PP's numbers are lower then when he was with the Bills....
After internal discussions about what to do with wide receiver Peerless Price, the Falcons have decided to try to keep him on the roster and restructure his contract. Talks already are underway, and both sides have incentive for finalizing the deal.
Price wants to stay in Atlanta and continue working for the upstart franchise. The Falcons want to keep Price, who has had worked hard this offseason by getting in great shape and catching most every pass thrown his way. Now the two sides need to come to an agreement on what to do with Price's base salary. It seems likely that Price will provide the Falcons with some cap relief for the chance to remain in Atlanta.

Uneducated fans always get excited about "big names", usually the skill position players, and generally undervalue those players that aren't big names because it would require a discerning eye in order to identify their talents.

Fans like this are screaming for an organization like the Daniel Snyder run Washington Redskins. Fortunately, our organization doesn't listen to their voices.
while i dont disagree Price might be something we should look into, it would only be if it were maybe a two year contract, so we dont rush mathis if he isnt ready, but word outta camp is that he is impressing the coaches.... Gaff dropping the ball isnt taking the play off, he just made a mental error, and probably wont ever do that again.... armstrong was on our roster, he was a slot receiver, and he might have played some opposite AJtitan hater said:With respect..I don't agree...
Gaff is not a good blocker...also he takes some plays off...remember the ball dropped going into the endzone?
Armstong has good hands, but he is not a proven player (after all was he not a practice squad guy last year?)...
As far as Mathis goes...Do you really think a late round pick is going to be a #2 his first year?

Based on last year even the raw numbers are unanimously against Price. As a full time starter he got targetted 106 times, dropped 5 and only managed to haul in 45 for 575 yds gaining 1st downs on just 26% of his receptions. Gaffney as a part time starter turned his 68 targets (with just one drop) into 41 receptions for 632 yds and got 1st downs on 50% of his receptions. Heck even Derick Armstrong had more 1st downs than Price. But hey, there is the added benefit of spending more money.
PeekFan24 said:Yes, Atlanta is run first, pass second. But, Price still got TARGETED 106 times and only hauled in 45 for 575. Gaffney was TARGETED 68 times and caught 41 for 632. So, Gaffney had 38 FEWER passes thrown at him, only caught 4 LESS than Price, and still got more yardage...not to mention a 50% First Down ratio. Price is overrated...I would take Gaffney over him any day of the week.
texanfan2002114 said:You also have to remember that Carr is a better passing QB than Vick. Carr last year completed 61% of his passes while Vick only completed 56%. I would love to see Price here as the Texans #2 and keep Gaffney at #3.
Gaffney doesn't have the speed to play on the outside and belongs in the slot.
According to reports, Peerless Price might be forced to retire because of an inoperable retinal condition. The Falcons discovered the problem last season but believed the disorder was treatable.

Master Po said:Price succeeded in BUF b/c he was a #2 WR w/ Moulds drawing the doubles. (He also had a pocket passer.) Then ATL offered up the dough, he bolts, and now he's the #1 WR seeing the doubles. All with a running QB and without a viable #2 WR. Bad, bad spot for him, IMO. AJ would take all the defensive pressure off of him that Moulds did (if not more.) I think he'd fit in well here.
If cut, bring him I say. Then when we cut Matt Murphy, he can have his #81.

awtysst said:Just a general question. Isnt Peerless the Atlanta number one receiver? If that is true, who is their number 2 or 3. It is possible his numbers are down becuase he is targeted becuase there is nobody else there who can take pressure off him. It is also possible he is overrated. I am not sure which.
TopTexanFan16 said:yea but gaffeny isnt our #2 bradford is, Gaffney is a slot reciever. hes never lined up outside unless it was a all go.
texanfan2002114 said:Gaffney was a number #2 before Andre got here. So yes he has been a #2 and wasn't any good at it.
