Pass interference & blatant referre bias against the Texans!

Now, I'm not one to ever buy into the whole biased referee conspiracy theory (even though Sportscenter constantly reminds us that Jerry Rice gets a "free pass" because of his HoF career, whatever)...I've always assumed that we get some good calls, some bad calls, but it evens out at the end of the day.

but, during the radio gamecast, Andre and Mark were saying that the Browns defensive pass interference call WAS THE FIRST FOR A TEXANS OPPONENT THIS YEAR (against us)!!! :shocked

WTF?!? Where can I get facts about this? Is there an NFL stats site that can confirm this?

If true, that means that our offense had more pass interference calls against it than opposing defenses!!!

And if true, is the league really trying to say that through 15 GAMES, with a Pro Bowl WR (AJ), that opposing defenses have NEVER committed pass interference against us?!?

Heck, they even called an offensive interference call against AJ on Sunday, when it was CLEAR AS DAY that he was going for the ball!

Man, if this stat is true, then I have to admit that there is definitely some kind of blind bias AGAINST our Texans! There is just no way to justify this stat against the law of averages!

Somebody please tell me this stat is wrong and our announcers were drunk...my mind just can't grasp the nature of this truth! :hairpull:
 
I heard that also, but don't know if it is true. Don't think that it is a conspiracy, but considering the nature of our passing game it is possible. Trying not to sound like a Palmer hater, but if you are not forcing the ball long or throwing in holes in the middle of a zone then there is a good possibility that you could have few holdin/interference calls. remember also, especially late, teams played that 2 deep zone so they are not trying to play bump and run against AJ who could be an interferencing making machine with his size, strength and speed advantage over prety much anyone who is covering him.

True, most of the passes are the underneath stuff.
 
very true, but have ya noticed that even when carr does get time he, releases the ball to soon and rarly goes deep, maybe he has been ruined from never having time in the pocket, if he'd go long it would help our cause !

Rarely goes deep--umm, yeah--except for the 53 completions of 20 yards or over--and keep in mind there were probably twice that many attempts since those are the lowest completion passes.

My theory is completely team/sport independent--calls go against low ranked players/teams on average. Leagues like the stories of 15-1 teams, etc. Stars get more deference than rookies. Manning gets short whistles while trying to set records. Chucky Brown got called for fouls when he was three yards from the play. Until the Texans become consistant favorites this will be something that happens.
 
Even a lot of 20 yard or better completions can be made up of a lot of dump passes. AJ is very good at yards after the catch and the Texans had several short dumps that got turned into a lot of yardage.

Yeah, yeah--and they run, run, pass every time also.
 
was that sarcasim ??? Its obvious were TRYING to be a running team, and in the last few games we had better blocking up front and were able to have good production on the ground, but we have plenty of weapons to air it out, if the line would give carr a little more time he could shread opposing teams secondarys apart !
 
When I said force down field, i meant that the team does not send three WRs down field and throw it up with the intent of either AJ making a great catch or drawing the pass interference (the minnesota/Moss approach). I can think of a couple of exceptions (kansas city comes to mind), but most of the time when the Texans go down field the recievers are usually open.

AJ wouldn't have stats to be in the probowl if it weren't for the quick passes to him and he ran for big yards esp if we just chunked it deep to him. Blame Palmer for the dump passes, but until we get a legit TE and another deep threat.. Dump passes /quick passes will continue. Why? Teams will continue to double AJ deep ala cover 2.. We have no one to force teams to rotate off of AJ ,even with all the dump passes to try to get the defense to come up so we can burn them deep.. the defense just aren't biting. *edit We don't have a legit TE to go down the seam on the cover 2 and make them pay

This is a no win argument.. If Carr threw deep (like some are suggesting) when it isn't their, People would complain that Carr is forcing it in and can't read a defense.

I want to see us go deep and let AJ get it.. I know he is the type that can get the ball, but it has to be at OUR advantage (1 on 1) and not 2 on 1. And who knows, we don't have game film and my TV doesn't show the whole field.. there are probably many times that AJ has gone deep and not thrown to. or better yet the TIME to see the field and throw downfield
