who cares what the media says. They dont know football like the coaches do. Of course, they do make mistakes sometimes but only time will tell

I think that if DD can stay healthy with the new blocking scheme he will be one of the best backs in the nfl and place top 10 in rushing yards.

Let's see... Scouts Inc grades Bush with a 99 and Mario Williams with a 98. So, I guess any deviation from that makes a team a joke. It's just craziness if Houston had Mario with a 99 and Reggie with a 98. There's now way to justify that one point swing, I suppose.

The egos that these talking heads exude are incredible. The idea that Len P. thinks he is qualified to so clearly understand the difference in talent from the top-rated talent and the one next in line, is ridiculous.

Also, he doesn't bother to let the facts get in the way. His colleague, Mortenson, reported on national TV last week, that Ron Wolf believes many of the NFL teams had Mario rated ahead of Bush. It's a good thing Len doesn't let that kind of information enter his miniature head, otherwise he wouldn't have a story to write.
 
If the Texans would have taken Bush #1 overall, they would be getting hammered for paying 30 for a "situational" back who would be getting only 15 touches a game.

Lenny P knows about as much as the rest of us when it comes to projecting success or failure of college players who enter the NFL. It's much easier to write that article than take the other side. So pick your poison.

I wonder how many more times this article is going to be posted?

I'll concede to Lenny when I see the Saints in the second round of the playoffs.

This isn't Madden. This is real football. Mario Williams and Reggie Bush aren't separated by "one point." They could be separated by a mile and a championship for all you know. Most draft experts and websites agree that the Mario pick was a mistake, but you chose to look at the one website that says they're practically equal and call it correct and everyone else wrong. That's just bias.

Almost every team and every person on the planet had Reggie Bush as the #1 player in the draft, regardless of what Mort says. Tune in the information you choose to hear. Tune out the information that you don't want to hear. I see how it is.

Even if the Texans don’t have more wins there is no way for anyone to evaluate a draft this early. I believe Bush will have the most impact the first year of any of this years picks. We will not know the true impact of this years draft for a number of years. Plus all the picks might be the right one for each team. Look at the draft of 1983 all you hear about is John Elway and Dan Mario, but that draft also produced the likes ofEric Dickerson, Bruce Matthews, Mark Clayton and Darrell Green. Someone passed on some pretty good players to take who they thought would help their team more.

I didn’t like the pick of Mario Williams, but now I remember I didn’t like the former Houston’s team pick of Bruce Matthew either. I think that worked out pretty good for them. Hopefully this will for the Texans too.

The truth is none of us really know. We have to look 5 years down the line and see what happens.

Is Reggie Bush going to have some great games in his first couple of years, yes. Is he going to make highlights, yes. Are the Saints going to be any good, probably not.

This debate will continue because it is easy for the media to look at a few highlights and proclaim that a guy is great. The media will show us Bush over and over again. Mario will go about his business disrupting the opposing opponent. He will change coverage schemes, he will change formations, he will hurry the QB forcing turnovers and incomplete passes, he will provide good run support, and he will get a few sacks.

If you are looking for numbers Mario Williams will never compare to Reggie Bush. However, if you are looking for effect on a team and a game, we will have to wait and see. For any of us, one way or the other, to claim we know Bush is better or that Williams is better is ignorant. We are all guessing at this point.

You would pay 50+ million w/ 30 million gt. for a part time player (15 or so touches a game). In addition, he already has a bit of stuff brewing and its more about money then football. 12 teams had them ahead of Bush.. 1 man does not make the team.. In detroit, the Lions had 3 plays. Sanders to the right, Sanders up the middle, and Sanders to the left. How many times did that single (most awesome RB in life, in my O) make it to the superbowl? We need and pass rush.. period.. period!!!

Faggins? not quite as good but he's in the area....when the quarterback for the opposing team drops back and looks right into the eyes of this "freak" of nature drafter number 1 in 06.....

That's the beauty of message boards and open debate. You have your opinion, and others have theirs. On this case, the extent of who is right or wrong is important but remains to be seen.

Lenny P was all over the Texans jocks prior to the '05 season -- a team on the threshold I recall him saying -- and now he's ripping them for winning only two games. This was the easiest type of article to write. Just pile on, Lenny, and follow the crowd. The beauty of sports journalism is that you are typically only as smart or as stupid as your last article. People have pretty short memories with this kind of stuff.

I imagine Mario will get his "Texan Love" after his first sack. It'll be easier for people to forget, or live with, what could've been. Think about...

Peyton does his patented "Blah blah 288, Blah blah 288", run up to the line and tap people on the helmet. "Check, blah blah 366 tree, blah blah 366 tree.", and stamp his foot on the ground...wave his arm and finally say "HUT". Then here comes Mario around the end and Peyton's "Blah blah this" and helmet tapping that turns into..."#%!@, OH, S*^t !!! And the helmet tapping turns to helmet planting, and the farmer is Mario "The Fatality Facilitator" Williams.
 
I don't know if I'm more stunned by the Texans' decision (even now, 48 hours
after the fact) to take Mario and pass on Reggie or more impressed by their convictions and determination to go with what they believed was the right call even though they knew it would be hugely unpopular, especially on the heals of another unpopular decision to pass on VY.
