Palmer knee taken out

If anyone is watching the bengals- steelers game. Palmer took a HARD shot after complelting a big pass. Looks like a shot to the knee.l Kitna will be entering the fray.
 
I feel so sorry for the bengals, especially the fans, they have waited so long and didn't deserve this.....um..um..um.

Are you serious? You really believe that the DE just accidentaly fell on Palmers lower leg like that?

That was a cheap shot, and now one of the best skill players in the post season is out. He should be fined.

I think he is doubtful to return today. A very tough break for the Bengals.

No he was going for the sack, it was just an awkward hit to the knee. They just showed to replay after it happened and the lineman that hit him stood there next to him until the play was over.
 
Does anybody else think the Steelers aren't going for the tacke, but for the injury? I noticed a guy tried to twist a WR's ankle, but the WR stiffened his leg. This was after the play, BTW.

Yep, Kitna going in. They were my pick as the sleeper this season (Bengals).

And that was NOT a cheap shot (to those who say it was). How can you say it was?

Does God hate the bengals, I'm biginning to think so. Man that is the absolute worst thing that could of happened to that team. Fans at the bengal board out out for blood, they want #7
 
It seems that Palmer's injury is for the best. the Bengals are playing agressively and passionately. Wow. I want Kitna in deep steel blue and battle red.:rolleyes:

Despite being a playoff game, it is still a game between two divisional rivals, there is plenty of bad blood to go around. This would be like the texans and jags meeting in the playoffs.

Trust me it is not for the best. They might be emotional right now, but that doesn't last. Palmer was a bonified mvp canidate.

It was an ugly play, but it was not intentional. He was blocked into Palmer, and Palmer had his knees locked after getting the ball off, and the combination of those two things is bad for a QB.

As I predicted, MRIs have confirmed that he has torn ligaments and its a safe bet that he will not return.
 
He will be lucky to be fully ready by training camp next season, but hopefully he will have a swift recover and be ready to continue his career.
 
For NFL players, full recovery from torn ACL surgery is usually 9-12 months. Nine months from now is October.

If I read his body language correctly the D-linemam was upset. He realized that Palmer was seriously injured and he just stood there wondering what he could do to help. It was not intentional and I sensed compassion on the part of the d-lineman. There may be a few thugs in the game but overall I believe they do not intentionally seek to injure anyone.
I reserve the right to amend this statement if some ignorant GM sees fit to draft Marcus Vick. :twocents:

Didn't the guy from U of Miami hurt his knee like this in a bowl game and come back very quickly when it was predicted it would be a year long recovery period?

Can't remember his name but I think the Bills drafted him and he's fine as far as I know....

Perhaps Carson can do the same.

That was Willis Mcgahee and he missed the entire 2003 season because of his injury.
 
Thanks...well I was semi right...I did not realize he missed a whole year..for some reason I thought he injured himself and then played for the Bills the next year.

Well I'm always sad to hear of a top tier NFL player that has a horrible injury. Even if I don't follow the team or that player I sure hate to hear he damaged his knee so horribly.

And thanks again for the information. I am not very good with names.
 
They just reported it was a clean tear of the acl and they think he'll be ready by training camp, so that is good news, god I hope so. I hate to see a injury like this
 
ESPN News has reported that the surgeon who operated on Palmer's knee has informed Palmer that his injury is much more serious than originally thought...In fact, he thinks the injury may be career threatening...He not only has several torn ligaments, he also has damaged cartilage and a dislocated kneecap...

I hope Palmer is able to return from this...He has shown a lot of promise and I don't think Bengal fans would be able to take something like this now...

I would think the torn ligaments would be the most serious of the injuries, but I am no doctor. I too hope he can return from this injury.

Updating a previous report, the Associated Press reports the knee injury suffered by Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer (knee) could be career threatening. His surgeon said Thursday, Jan. 12, that the injury was "devastating and potentially career-ending," involving numerous ligament tears, a shredded ligament, damaged cartilage and a dislocated kneecap. "It's not just like it was a torn ACL," Dr. Lonnie Paulos said Thursday, Jan. 12, in a phone interview from Houston. "It's a magnitude more difficult to recover from and repair. It can and has ended careers, without a doubt. However, I feel very comfortable with Carson as an athlete and the heart that he's got. In the end, that's the bottom line. I can see the look in his eye already. He's ready to get going." The surgeon said the injury was off the chart. "On a scale of one to three, it was a four," he said. "It was off the chart. It was pretty badly damaged - shredded is the better term." If rehabilitation goes well, Palmer could be running in a couple of months and might be able to play in the first regular season game, Paulos said.
 
This is terrible news. I would hate to see this man's career end so quickly. Get well soon Carson.
 
Palmer has one thing going for him. He wasn't the most mobile quarterback before the injury, so if his knee can return to about 75% of what it once was he should be okay. The only question is can he heal enough where he can play pain free, because pain will eventually wear you down. In injuries like this arthritis can instantly take over, the key to this injury is to minimize as much scar tissue as humanly possible. I know about joint injuries first hand, because i've suffered them. The problem that I had the most was the build up of scar tissue, not only does it cause pain, (arthritis), but it decreases your range of motion drastically, but then again I didn't have the money nor the access to the quality of doctors Carson's going to be seeing. I wish Carson the best, he has many many many months of HARD rehabilitation to go through.
 
Just terrible news - i'd be shocked if he is ready for the start of 06' -- certainly it will be mid-season or later before he is fully comfortable on that knee (more like 07').
 
So worst case he has Dan Marino mobility? Knees are one thing you dont want to mess with, especially a young guy like Carson.
