wow, this is the first mock i've seen that has reggie nelson falling to the 3rd...:shades:

doesn't really jump at me as a draft i'd be too excited about..unless i was a arizona fan ...thomas and kalil awesome.

they have denver taking DE in both 1st and 2nd?....this is a weird mock.

carolina would have a pretty stout draft w/ okoy and meriweather.

I would rather take Levi Brown over Branch.....not much drop off (especially with all the picks on the Dline) and a bigger need.

they completely overlooked Reggie Nelson the one player who could wind up being the next Bob Sanders, very disapointing (unless the Texans drafted him in the 2nd :doot:)

I agree Brown is the pick staying @ #8. if they pass on another LT when one is sitting right there for the taking ownership should fire itself.

also surprising they have Bush @ #16 to GB while Lynch slips down to Baltimore @ #29

I'm not surprised at the Bush pick. He is a big guy with Bettis like feet. That has value in the NFL.
I got on to someone who labled Colt McCoy a red cross guy. Lynch is a classic under achiever guy. He's got all the skill set but when you watch him...you think there is something missing with this guy. I know Kastofnsa loves the guy...I got danger will Robinson written all over him. Cash the first check you might never see the guy again.

On another note...Our Lads does things a little differently. They do their mocks soley on BPA. They don't put as much weight on need. Their mocks are always different than the rest of the herds.

Nelson looks good but if there is any player that compares to Bob Sanders in this draft it is Michael Griffin.

They play the safety position exactly the same and they have similar speed, strength, and ballhawking skills.

This might be the worst mock I have seen for us.

Not impressed with Branch at all. Would rather take Brown, but if we are going DT, I would take Okoye before Branch

Then to make it worse McCauley in the second. As much as this guy got brunt this year, we should just kept Petey and bring back PBuc.

I seriously doubt the Texans pick Branch. I'd rather trade down and pick Levi Brown, Reggie Nelson or LaRon Landry.

Why would we pick Marcus McCauley with Reggie Nelson still on the board...

Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but I don't see Reggie Nelson in this mock...

When you leave out players who are virtually locked to be 1st rd. picks in your mock it ruins it....

OK, first of all Nelson won't fall out of the 1st, let alone drop all the way to the 3rd (unless something drastic happens between now and the draft), so this mock loses some credibility right there. Also, with the players left on the board when we pick in the 1st and 2nd, I would prefer Brown, Adams, or Landry over Branch and Meriweather, Hughes, or Griffin over McCauley (unless Nelson does fall to the 2nd). Don't really care for this mock.

How can you not be impressed with Branch?

The only thing Okoye has on him is that he is a few years younger.

The Texans have to stop opponents' rushing games. A top-flight DT replacing Travis Johnson would be huge improvement and solidify a stout defense. I have no qualms with drafting Branch in the first round.

Seriously, there is no way the Texans can go wrong, the way I see it. It's the later rounds that I think will be tougher to call.

I saw him play a couple of games this year, and he seems to be more of a plugger DT than a DT that can get pressure in the backfield. If we were still playing a 3-4 I would be very excited with Branch because I think he could play all 3 d-line positions. But for our scheme I like Okoye. I guess I should have said I would rather have for our system instead of not impressed.

Marcus McCauley IS an underrated corner. I also like the idea of taking a big, nasty interior D-Lineman in the first round.

From what I'm seeing now, it's going to be really hard for the Texans to make a bad pick in this spot. I'm not saying they can't. I mean, they could pick Ted Ginn, Jr and I'd be shocked. But there are going to be a lot of really good players that are going to fit in really well at several different positions available to us at that pick. I don't care if they go for RB, OL, QB (except I don't particularly like Quinn), DB, DL, or LB. I just don't want them going WR or TE.

It's going to be hard to mess this up.

Which of course means we will.... :wheel:

I'm with ya Beerlover on this mock. I don't like it at all. While Branch may be the top rated DT, I think he is more suited to the 3-4 as a "space eater." I would have to go with either Brown or Okoye with the 1st pick. If we got Okoye (more of a pass rusher) in the 1st, then I would get Ugoh in the 2nd if Staley is gone, and if we got Brown in the 1st, then I would go with the best DB, DT, or OLB in the 2nd. JMHO!

maybe he's underrated now because of his horrible season last year and didn't do a whole lot for his stock at the senior bowl.

I really like his size and speed at 6'1 205...runs a 4.35. Scouts just question his footwork and his hands. If we do get him I hope we have some coaches that can really work with this kid. cuz it sounds like he does have a lot of potential...

there's just a number of other players on the board that are less "risky".

What I like about McCauley is that if you put him in press coverage he will run the WR right into the ground, wont even let him off the line.

But then if you let him step off, he cant recognize routes or recover quick enough from mistakes.

he has a tendancy to get into his back peddle to deep, you could easily see his technique problems in practice (senior bowl) also same thing while playing for Fresno State. very phillip buchanish, just bigger. some team will take a chance on him I just hope its not the Texans or I'll be down again :drunk:

If I were to pick a DT I would prefer Amboi Okoye. He's a better fit to our defense and I think Alan Branch is overrated.

I would pick Micheal Griffin in 2nd round if Brandon Meriweather is gone. Micheal Griffin is great coverage safety. I know our FO don't draft UT guys but Micheal Griffin perfect fit to our team.

Where's Brandon Meriweather and Reggie Nelson? Brandon Meriweather should be a late 1st round pick after the Senior Bowl, Reggie Nelson is a top 20 pick. This is ridiculous.

Round 1
Pick Team Player Position School

8 HOU Branch, Alan DT Michigan
9 MIA Brown, Levi OT Penn St

Round 2
Pick Team Player Position School

39 HOU McCauley, Marcus CB Fresno St
40 MIA Moss, Jarvis DE Florida
41 MIN Ugoh, Tony OT Arkansas

This might be the most realistic mock draft I've seen yet. This way we get to pass on two left tackles in the first two rounds. Historically accurate, at least.
