The first, and most impactful, is signing Oregon Duck's troubled Quarterback, Jeremiah Masoli. With one of our quarterbacks transferring, we were depleted at the QB position. Enter Masoli : signed a "Zero-Tolerance Contract". Great talent but he's had some off-field issues (burglary charge for stealing a laptop I think, and the second being possession of marijuana) and was released from Oregon. If he has any shot at the NFL he knows he's got to stay as clean as a whistle this year... otherwise 3rd strike and he's done. I'm looking forward to his addition. The loss of Dexter McCluster is HUGE, but Masoli is likely an upgrade over Jevan Snead and we've got some talented big RB's.

By the time he spoke with reporters, he had practiced just once. But Nutt liked what he saw in Masoli's presence.

"You're talking about a brand new playbook, brand new terminology, brand new snap count -- didn't phase him," Nutt said. "It didn't phase him at all. He steps right in the huddle, commands respect, talks with authority. You could see how smooth he was with his ball-handling skills and taking a brand new playbook. He jumped right in and you could tell that he's played in the Rose Bowl."

Masoli guided the Ducks last season to their first Pac-10 title since 2001 and their first Rose Bowl appearance since 1995. The 5-foot-11, 220-pounder is a two-year starter who threw for 2,147 yards and 15 touchdowns and rushed for 668 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2009.

The second is walk-on Terrell Brown. A 6-11, 390lb behemoth that may be "too huge to play football"!! lol

we finally meet, Duck with Ole'Miss not quite the same as Texans but I'll take it. great fit think he can excel in SEC maybe more people take notice, fearless both on & off the field (ones a good thing the other is not). I really enjoy watching Nutt teams play they could surprise people again.

Does Masoli fit the Ole Miss offense? I'll admit I haven't watched to many Ole Miss games but I don't know how Nutt is going to use him unless he wants to go with a two-quarterback offense (e.g. Terrele Pryor and Todd Bockemen)

Good question. You know, I think Nutt is going to use Masoli to his strengths. Similar to the way Oregon used him. He actually reminds me a lot of Tebow (minus God). I suspect there will be much more running plays than with Snead. I think Nutt does a great job of getting the talent he has on the field and letting them play to their strengths vs. sticking to a certain style of play and forcing the player into a role.

I was really worried about our season outlook a few weeks ago but I'm excited now. I don't think we'll win the west but I sure would be happy with another Cotton Bowl trip.

I really do too. I don't think he's even THAT great of a coach... he just finds a way to get the best out of the players he has. Almost in a scrappy kind of way too, he just finds a way. In a sense I guess that's what a good coach does. lol

I didn't really want to start a new thread for this but since this is "somewhat" tied to the Oregon Ducks... I LOVE their new football helmets. I think the Ole Miss script (see my avy) would look awesome on them.

6'11"? Why is he an OL? Also, a walk-on at that size? He must be really uncoordinated.
