Official I love our draft thread

Like Champ Tex said it's time to lace'em up up & play ball.

The evaluation process is over.

We 've got our LT of the future & he's being coached by a HOF line coach.

We had a great draft. For all non-believers just wait & see.

I care what Gibbs thinks not what the Kiper's, McShay's think about our draft.

GO TEXANS

Any potential nuggets in the UDFA bunch?
I don't really recognize any of those names. But I'll be the first to tell you I don't follow college ball like most of you guys do. So who's there to get excited about?

But nothing like the man love that will be flowing in the 610 studios friday afternoon. Saint Vincent and Rich Lord will be put into the booth together. Think rich will remember the knee pads ?

I love the draft. The Brown pick caught me off guard, but I didn't expect us to grab a guy like Otah, I kind of expected a guy that most people didn't have a high rating on.

I think the best draft pick was Xavier Adibi. I doubt very much that he will play SLB for us, but he is our future WLB. He can take over this job from Greenwood by the end of this upcoming season. He is a playmaker, and that is exactly what Greenwood is not from the LB position. It's good we have a guy like Greenwood to make Adibi fight for the spot.

Me Too. I'm a big proponent of Jeff Otah & his projections going forward as a power running left tackle but understand not with Gibbs ZBS system. Brown lack of expereince @ LT is actually a plus, the rawer the better so Gibbs has a clean slate to work with, the important thing is his foot agility & speed. he has a wide, solid base with long arms his compact build will hopefully add to his durabilty

I'm looking for Adibi to contribute, everybody agrees pretty much a steal in the 4th, however the player who gets unfairly marked as a reach is Steve Slayton. Gibbs re-tool'ed OL & emphasis on running game should project this rookie into a 1,000+ rb immediately, hence the most distinct difference maker from this draft.

I love the Slaton pick. He was in a ZBS in college, I know this mostly because Rick Trickett, the OL coach for West Virginia most of the time that Slaton was there, was hired by Florida State. Trickett is trying to implement that scheme here in Tallahassee for the Seminoles. He is a very good offensive line coach. Slaton is the perfect ZBS running back. He has experience in the system and he is a natural one cut and go running back.

However, I don't see him as an immediate 1,000 yard back. I think he will eventually grow into a back that can put up 1,000 yard seasons, but not immediately. I think he will have some very successful games, but I think he will be one of the guys that suffers from the rookie wall. I expect him to put up somewhere between 500 and 750 rushing yards this season, adding something like 150-300 receiving yards.

If Slaton can add some lower body strength, I think he can be a Westbrook type of player. Maybe not as good as Westbrook, but that type of player; a guy that can really put up alot of yards from scrimmage.

This draft was great. Even our 5th round pick can make an immediate impact on this team.
