**Official Cut Day Thread**

That's two mildly surprising cuts so far to me. Weeden and Novak. Thought they might keep Dillon around as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on the practice squad. I don't think he looked quite right back there coming off that leg injury. Did not look like he trusted it completely to me.

For me, Weeden is surprising. Who's our 3rd QB?
 
I'm really surprised about Weeden. I wonder if that move is to free up a spot at WR or RB.

But who? Someone refresh my memory here for me, but I don't remember any other QBs on the team other than Savage, Watson and Weeden. Wouldn't they now have to actually go and get someone?

That's disturbing. Weeden seems much better to me than some random guy. Was Weeden making enough money for this cut to be useful? I don't expect Savage to make it the whole year, which means Mr. Random guy could very well end up as the backup QB.
 
OLB Dayon Pratt, TE RaShaun Allen, OG Josh Walker, WR Dres Anderson, OLB Gimel President, and CB Robert Nelson have been released.

It's a surprise here, also. Not so much that Weeden was cut, but to go into the season with only two QB's. This could come back and bite us.

Seems to me they'll have to sign someone cheap, inexperienced and PS elgible. It will have to be a PS signing - I can't see signing a vet to a contract cheaper than Weeden's.

I guess it is possible to sign a rookie who has been placed on waivers. I hope they have their eye on someone, or know something, or have some kind of plan.

I just can't believe we'd go into the season with only two QBs. Not even Yosemite Sam is that dumb. Hopefully we'll get an explanation and solution soon.

I feel good about this. With our coverage team so poor, as I posted before, we don't need a noodle leg that can't get the ball into the EZ................that combination has killed us. And Fairburn has been reported in practice to be very close to Novak in the FG department. Good move.

No spoken about too much, but Novak missed 3 of 25 XPA..................doesn't seem like much, but it was enough to place him 29th of 32 in that category..........and there were only 8 kickers that had a worse made FG 50 yds and greater record..........and only 8 of 11 between 40 and 49 for 15th ranking among kcikers.

Cutting Weeden shouldn't be much of a shocker. I'm sure they'll get a third stringer from somewhere. Hell, there's probably one in the practice squad we haven't heard about. I'm hoping they do something about the O-line. "X" and Allen have got to go! Maybe we can find some some decent help at WR, LG, RT, or RG. Both Savage and Watson will need all the protection they can get!
 
Come on, we're talking about a 3rd string QB here. If we're getting down to our 3rd stringer then things probably aren't going all that well anyway. I don't think it's going to matter all that much.

That said, I do get the concern going into the season with 2 QBs with a total of 2 NFL starts combined.
 
Weeden is a classic pocket passer. They may be looking for a 3rd string QB who is closer to Watson in style of play. What vet is available for league minimum who has experience in OB's system? Case Keenum? He just signed with the Vikings, but they now have 4 QB's. Or someone similar.

Weeden can always be brought back. Are you concerned that an other team will scoop him up?
