Now that brings a smile to my face. He should be picking up the WR position right around the time he becomes a free agent.

Let's hope so. Funny how Matt Jones has always been reported to be a laid back easy going sort of guy, and Del Rio is the total opposite. Wonder how well he's going to respond to him.

As last year's "phenom" Reggie Williams gets beat out for the spot opposite Jimmy Smith by a quarterback.... lol... I think it's a hilarious pick.

Injury issues, attitude issues = Sean Gillbert. Might work out. Hopefully the d-line will stay pretty healthy this year and they won't have to expose him to much next season.

Many players have injury issues when it comes to playing on the lines. I mean most of the linemen nowadays are wearing like 2 braces on each knee.

I do hope our line stays healthy next year so he has a chance to learn from Walker and Payne before being throw in to the fire. I would expect him to be on the field for about 40-50% of the plays by the end of the season though.

I love Matt Jones, but that is a major stretch. He cant play TE, I dont think that will ever happen. It will take him awhile to develop, probably a year or two.

So is a bold move kinda like a reach? Like you insinuated about Johnson with us?

So it's ok for another team to take a reach if YOU like the player, but not us since you don't like who we picked?
6 ft 6 guys who run a 4.37 dont come around if ever. TJohnson type can be found with regularity in rounds 3-7 ever yr. CC just found him in one. The tribe has spoken. CC is finished by 06.

Had shoulder injury not injuries also had his best year after the sugery.
His sophmore and senior years were good that is 2 years.
He as aquited on all charges
He grew up in Calif. it is not negative that he was a raider fan
yes he is big strong and quick

I feel great CC has done his homework and we are better. We will be in the playoffs. What more do you want?

My bad, I didn't mean to leave it plural...
He had 10.5 TFL his sophomore year, which is decent...
Touche...
LoL have you ever met a die hard Raider fan? I'd consider it a negative ...

I think the thing that speaks the best of him is that he had his best year after Dockett was gone...

Stop it FatBoy Tim... Travis Johnson is gonna play regularly for us. If Capers is smart, we rotate 5 linemen (Deloach, Walker, Payne, Smith, and Johnson) regularly to keep the line relatively fresh. Payne, Johnson, and even Smith in certain spots can play DT, while any of the 5 can play DE. Also in a pinch, Babin could play end. Depth on the defense is a big key. Ask the Patriots about depth on defense.

It will only be a negative if he is still a raider fan once the season starts :)

Matt Jones is a serious reach.
he is and i agree with you. But you also have to admit he may turn out to be the next RMoss too. THe Jags are making the gamble to be great. It will be interesting to see how it all turns out.

I agree, but at least with Moss you knew what you were getting, Jones is a big Question mark. I hope he flops.

Jackinhole just got Matt Jones! I was high on him and all of that "potential". Facing the Jags twice a year I sure hope now that that potential never comes! :whew

Okay, what about this logic... Trade our 2nd next year and 3rd this year (or next year) to trade up to get Dan Cody??? Just a thought. Casserly and Capers have to be doing something aside from playing cards right now. Cody shouldn't still be on the board, and I wonder if Capers and gang are trying to figure out how to get up here to get him.

I could make a highlight tape of myself and people would think I was awesome. You can't just look at highlight tape. All it does is show the "best" plays they have made. A crappy player could have a few awesome plays that would make for a good highlight tape. (Not saying Spears is bad though. I am happy with Johnson, and I woulda been with Spears, too).

thats true

Thank goodness they FINALLY picked him! I am glad he got cheered, that is nice of the fans. It is kind of tough playing behind Favre though....

I like your thinking and that could work out well. ALthough i doubt the texans will be trading up, they are probably just evaluating talent for that 3rd round pick.,

i think this is a fabulous pick for GB. They got a Starting QB low in one. The bills and Ravens had to trad eup to ge theirs and i think rogers will be better than losman or boller eventually. Plus GB has a ton of weapons on O. Good pick

I doubt they're trying to trade up either. It doesn't look like anyones really left in the war room anymore.

So what do you think they're playing in the war room? Spades? Go-Fish? Long wait till the 3rd round....

Just kinda brainstorming, especially if Cody slips into round two. Perhaps send the 3rd we picked up from Oakland and the 3rd from Dallas to take Cody. I dunno, it's just a thought. At some point, if White and Cody are still on the board, someone's gonna trade up to grab them, or else someone like SF is gonna be really happy at the beginning of the 2nd round.

I saw a mock last night that had Rodgers falling all the way to Green Bay at 24. Not saying that means anything but I think lots of people are down on him and his stock has really suffered lately.

Hah, I posted this 6 hours ago. It came true!

Sorry, I meant the pick from the Saints, not the Raiders...

Yeah, definitely playing Texas Hold 'Em in the war room...

I don`t know about this 1. GB needs O-Line and Defense bad. It`s going to be long yr for Brett an him  I think you are putting a young guy in a bad situation. Remember Carr`s 1st yr. All those sacks. Now he has problems staying in the pocket. He has happy feet (ready to run all the time)

And/or one good WR prospect.... Amen to that.

Ok, I can see that. With AJ I'm not too worried about that. And what's this I heard about us needing RBs? Say what? Yes, I think:

a DE
an OT
Then WR

I'll let them decide who those will be!

Just don't know if Johnson can play end. I think so... but I'm not too sure. Might have to play the nose. That's why I was wondering if anyone actually heard anything on local radio or TV from Casserly or Capers. If someone hears something, please let me know... Can't get any coverage like that from here at Florida State.

to be honest they still need another DL if a good 1 is still there in this draft

Same problem here in Beaufort, SC. Also, I never... NEVER see a houston game out here! I'm glued to my gamepass on NFL.com every Sunday! That just sucks

Scouts Inc. has Travis Johnson with a grade of 95, actually higher than Spears.

I really like what has happened to our defense this offseason. Look at the youth: Buchanan, Lewis Sanders, Greenwood, Johnson... all three levels of the defense has been infused with youth.

Scouts, Inc also said that Jason Babin would be a good 3rd round gamble for some team and said Isaac Hilton would be a star...
