O - Line and Mario

Honestly, if other teams spend so much attention that we can get five sacks a game from the other DLs and LBs then he has done his job.

i definitely agree

I don't know ..how many plays did Mario play?

through that..17 plays(including punts)

I don't know what to say on how you can judge a defensive player on that time frame.

now looks like our up the middle defense needs some work on it

I just find it hilarious that Reggie Bush is still the best RB to ever touch the earth while evidently both MW and VY are busts.

and lundry had one more carry for one less yard and Lundry had a TD... Lundry had one less reception and one less yard than bush.. (lundry did miss a wide open one that he could have gained a bunch of yards (at least 5 IMO)

I wasn't paying much attention to the KC players - did Spencer ever go up against the first string defense?

Spencer came in at about the 11:00 mark of the second quarter and worked against Clint Mitchell who is a backup DE.

Speaking of the Chiefs starting RDE, Jared Allen, I just noticed him toss Wand down like a rag doll on Lundy's first quarter TD. Go back and look at it - if you dare. It's ugly.

Wand won't be our starting LT for long.

And like I said in some other thread, Fred Weary gets massive kudos for his blocking on the Lundy TD drive. (with honorable mention to Weigert and Flanagan).

1 second after Lundy ran by for the TD.

I think we should be happy that the block was effective and stop demanding domination. Especially with our O-line history.

Wand's non-block on Allen - when he was tossed aside like a sack of mulch - was away from the play and had no bearing on it's outcome. But I fail to see how getting thrown on your ass is an 'effective' block, but to each their own. I have a feeling Sherman won't be saying "good job Seth" during film review of that one tomorrow.

stop demanding domination
I'd settle for neutralization.

I want to know why Wand came back in during the third Q. Anyone hear anything about Spencer getting hurt possibly?

It's been about a hour and half since I've seen it, but I think Allen was less than a step away from Lundy. We would have squashed Lundy if he hadn't been tangled with Wand.

I don't thing Spencer was hurt. I am just watching the game for the first time on the replay, and if I'm not mistaken, in the 4 quarter I saw Spence get to the second level and just SMEARED a linbacker by cutting him totally to the ground. Very impressed with how fast he got there about 8-10 yards in no time at all.

Yeah, I will give Wand credit that he got in the way at least, but the real credit on that play goes to the interior linemen doing an exceptional job of blowing open a massive cutback lane for Lundy, Jameel Cooks lead block on the DB, and Lundy's vision to exploit the cutback. The blocking on that play is a thing of beauty - for the most part - but the Chiefs middle LB screwed up too by over-committing to the flow and getting trapped. It's a great play to stop-watch because of the endzone replay view.

Wand and Spencer both need a ton of technique work before September. I believe the plan was to alternate them each quarter. Wand has not established himself as the full-time starter yet, so they didn't let him rest after the 1Q with the rest of the starters.

I think alternating quarters was the plan. They are set on using Wand and Spencer at LT, no one else gets any significant reps there, so rather than have Spencer play 3 quarters they brought Wand back. As noted, more practice is good for both of these guys. Wand needs to keep improving his technique, and contrary to what I've been hearing I don't believe Spencer is challenging for the Pro Bowl. Yet.

I am looking forward to having 3 tackles on the team that could be at least average at the position. It would be very nice not to shuffle everyone due to a single injury this year.

I see Spencer back in there late in the 3rd. Never mind....

Spencer got the lions share of reps and it didn't appear to be an even split. Wand came in for the last 1:40 in the game - after the onside kick - and I recall wondering why he was back in there after the lengthy official's debate.

Any Mario bashing based on the #'s seems almost infantile. I mean how many times did they even run it his way? One obvious one where he made the assist. Most were up the middle where they have their pro-bowlers. KC won't give up many sacks especially when they simply run LJ for the most part so expecting them in obvious run situations in the first quarter of the first pre-season game is ridiculous. ESPN picked the play where he slipped to show America how Mario affected the game. Pretty funny how childish and vindictive the media can be. They're like a bunch of crybabies who didn't get their way. In reality I'm glad we got smacked in the mouth up the middle so our interior D can get over all the praise they've been receiving and realize they are far from dominant. Granted it was against top notch linemen but it will serve as a major wake-up call. Our preseason schedule is really going to help us see where we are as far as talent is concerned with clashes against KC and Denvers' o-lines and TB's defense. Chalk this one up as a great learning experience where the media got to show all the less educated how precious their Reggie is and how foolish we were. Did you really think they would would mention how our sixth rounder matched Reggie's #'s plus a TD? In short time we will get the respect that winning reaps. As for ESPMS well :brickwall . Let them take their cheap shots if they want to paint Mario as a bust that will make it that much sweeter when he begins to dominate.

I getting my info from watching the replay of games on NFL network. That way I can see with my own two eyes what's going on vs. being fed a filtered or agenda driven programming. Watching the Saints - Titans as we speak... the gods haven't made any amazing plays yet. I'm sure I'll have to bow in amazement when it happens...

....whoa.....a Billy Miller sighting....what a deal. Wearing #48 ... a catch and a holding penalty in the 3rd...

.....jeez...and a Jay Foreman sighting....
