Casserly just had a press conference and said Bush and Williams are 50/50 right now .
To me this is an indication were going to pick Mr. Williams.
50/50? That's not an indication of
anything; if anything, looking at the large picture, I dont see much doubt in what we're going to do.
Mario Williams, though an amazing prospect, did not REALLY come into the Texan's picture until we began negotiating with Bush. Bush wants #1 money, as would any #1. Until we began the negotiating, we were debating Bush-Young; this has clearly come to an end with the announcement of, not only the negotions, but today's "Bush or Williams."
Bush has repeatedly claimed his desires to be the #1, and I still truly feel we desire to choose him; in the end, I think we will. I also think we'll strike a contract prior to the draft. By negotiating with Williams at the same time, and by
continuing those negotiations, we can get Joel Segal & Bush to come down on his wishes as much as possible.
Mario Williams is and will be a great player, but 50/50 is not an indication of anything; if anything, the negotiations with Williams is a clear indication that we fully desire striking a deal with Bush prior to the draft.
