Nobody to Blame But Coaching and Oline

CyberTexan

Waterboy
This game was pethetic , the Coaching was terrible , twice we should have went for it on 4th down and didnt and the play calls where terrible , The Offensive Line was another big factor , I dont blame Carr one bit its hard to be a QB when the defense is always in your face , we need a Coaching change Bad and some Oline talent.

Maybe we should start a petition to get rid of Capers and take his Buddy Palmer with him , and gets some Offensive line talent as well :ok:

To be fair, we did take Bosselli and we did try to trade for Orlando Pace.

As far as coaching goes, I dont know why we decide to run the straight draw play when it is 2nd and 20 only to make it 3rd and 17??

I hear ya Goldeagle. I thought how stupid, 2nd and 20 and we run a draw with Double D.

Not too mention guys , not going for it on 4th and inches and also not going for it on 4th and 3rd with time against us ? we just gave up

It is the humble opinion of this Inaugural Season Ticket Holder that a move in the OC position should have been made after year 3. While a move at the HC postion may also need to happen, I believe that it is imperitive that a move with Palmer be made first. I wouldn't even be opposed to a move in the OC position during the season.

Overall, like so many of the last three years, the offense was inconsistent while the defense is left out ther to rot. Oh yeah, why, with 11 minutes to do you not go for it on 4th and inches??? If it keeps up like this, it will be a looooooooong season.

You can’t blame the O-line today. This is all on Carr. He’s going into his 4th year and still can’t read a blitz. His decision-making is horrible.

Right Ned.

As a fan who cannot afford Season tickets and has to scratch and claw on Ebay to get some, I have to say this year I will not be hunting Texans tickets.

It wasnt Carr geez , we knew they where blitzing almost every play he did too its just the Oline couldnt hold them back long enough for him to get rid of the ball Poor play calling and Oline simply put

Ohhh I think the O-LINE cannot read a blitz

dont be a carr lover dude you know he sucks he's play proves it but what do you expect from someone that should of been a 4th round pick at best.

The CBS comentator even said that he couldn't believe the Texans were punting the ball with 5 minutes and some change left in the game, being behind.

Absolutly you blame the Oline. Their job is to give the QB some time to throw. A QB cannot throw from his back.

The play calling was another question. The first few series the bills stacked the line and we continued to try to run?! Its a miracle we were not shut out.

It's hard to put your finger on just a few things today, it was a full team effort implosion.

Lots of blame to go around today.

if you see anywhere that Capers takes any of the blame for this game
or doesn't mention--

--can't win w/turnovers
-- " " w/no pressure
-- "had a good game plan we just didn't execute"

....please post link

The WRs could not get open, or catch the ball, but at least our O-line made up for it by not blocking anyone lol

Dude take off the Steel Blue glasses. Carr was pathetic. I mean horribly, incomaprehensibly, undeniably, awfully, terribly PATHETIC.

supposedly they were going to a quick passing offense, 3-step drop and then throw the ball. Carr was taking the 3-step drop alright, but then he would sit back there and shuffle his feet until he was sacked or started running. I wouldn't have had much of a problem with that if all of the options were covered, but Carr never looked to anyone but his first option. He would sit there and stare down his first option until he either got hit or took off running.

I had hoped that the coaches would do something to fix that, but obviously, they didn't or were not smart enough to notice that it was a problem in the first place.

Yup. Today was just a sad sad sack of sad. Carr was horrible. Losman wasn't pressured as heavily as Carr but he made plays when we came at him or he threw the ball away. Carr looked like Alex Smith. Confused, lost, and longing for those Fresno days.

This was the most pathetic display of football i have ever seen.
We didn't tackle, we didn't run, and we didn't catch.
This team played with no heart and no courage.
The question is who is to blame? This is arrguablly one of the most talented
teams in the NFL. Some would blame David Carr but he can't tackle and he
can't block. While he didn't look good today, he is still a good NFL QB.
So then who is to blame? I say Dom Capers, while he is a good judge of talent
he is not a very good coach.
Given less talent other coaches have won superbowls.
Capers has had one winning season.
Is it time to consider a new coach? Jimmy Johnson is still out there.
And given the chance to coach a team with this talent, I believe he would jump
at it. If for no other reason than to spite Jerry Jones. And I believe with a
real coach this team can win the superbowl.
It's time to stand up and say we won't take it anymore. we have real football
players now we want a real coach.
This team is built to win now. We don't need a coach who will punt on forth down
with time running out. This shows me a lack of courage and conviction
and this is not what we need at this time.
Let's get a real coach in here!!!!!!!!!!!!! :evilb:

I was at every game in '02 and frankly we looked better than we did today. I saw lack of confidence and desire to win on the entire team's face, from the coaches to the players. The only player that even bothered to show up today was Gary Walker. That stupid look on Capers face said it all. Whether you won't to believe it or not, the poor descions from the coaching staff have not put us in position to succeed. Every magazine artcle, every sports show and everyone but the "true fans" of this board (whatever that means) said exactly what would happen if our problems were not addressed. Well, what happened........we came out and fell flat on our face. Accountablity, along with focus means everything when trying to suceed. At this point in time, we have neither.

This reminds me exactly of the 02' season.

Me too, but that was expected, or at least excusable. It was their 2nd year. There are no more excuses allowed now, and it is time to search for some sort of change.

I seem to remember '02 being their first year.

What is that supposed to mean? Tell me now or face a temporary ban!

(I am seriously just kidding with that)

It's carrs fault he cant read the blitz. It's the O-lines fault they make every play look like the D had blitzed, its the defenses fault they cant hold a run and its the coaches fault they made some of the worst calls ive ever seen. To Sum it up its a team mistake, not any single person.

Who I blame for the loss.
Palmer.

Sure the D let them get some yards with no turnovers and yeah the OL didn't hold and when it did WRs couldn't catch. DD never got into a groove, but this game was winnable and should've of been won. But when the people in all the way in Guatemala know that "Hey the Texans are about to run because its 1st down" Theres your problem. Palmer choose to run and run and THEN pass. Pass when its 3rd and 17 or more! For this you have to have an OLine that will give you time so yeah we can do thi... o wait no! Thats right our Oline sucks! Too late now we already ran the ball! Palmer needs to leave.

But you know what if we just focus on the negatives then so will our next opponent. Lets focus on what we did good.

Our D is obviously a great red zone D. That was awesome that they only got one TD. Yeah they got 5 Kicks or something but thats cause most their drives started in the red zone.

David Carr tried his hardest rushing, throwing and doing anything to get our team ahead.

Andre can catch/rush very well.

and last but not least. They were scared of throwing at DRob!

I'm just glad we went to all the trouble to revamp the Defense just so that we could find ourselves back at Square One on the first game. Still, no O-Line. The left side looked really bad. What happened? And as in every year, the D looks really great through the first half, but anyone gets tired after sucking wind for two quarters without a break. How about something besides 3-and-out, Texans? :bomb:

At least get rid of Palmer. Not quite convinced on Capers, but definately Palmer. No imagination. Yeah, the line stinks, but good coaches make adjustments. Look at Notre Dame (I know, college...) but even though Ty was an OK coach, clearly they now have someone who can outsmart other teams...with the same tools....

agreed :deadhorse

looking at the offensive line it would seem the Texans have at least paid big bucks without a decent return. just this week the Texans signed Pitts to a 20 MILLION dollar 4 year contract. then you have McKinney making close to 4 mil., Wade 3.1 mil., Weigert 3.4 mil & Riley 1 mil. on paper this is a well paid solid group of linemen, its just when they play games the zone & trap blocking seem confused in disaray. there should be continuity but there is not, why? somehow Palmer & the offensive line coach need to get on the same page or else the above may just well come true

yes and also one thing Palmer does that I totally am not liking is that he plays on what he thinks we can do. He kept playing today to where he thought we could run it instead of throwing where we know for sure we got Andre. He also keeps the OL the same because he THINKS they'll be good but come on man! After 4 years if some of those guys aren't good yet they'll never be.
