No one can blame the fans

After losses sometimes I hear that the team really could have used some loud fans when the opponents were on defense. Sometimes when watching other, fun and good teams, I hear that we as fans should act more like their fans, and give our team some real homefield advantage.

Well, I was at the game yesterday for the 1st time in a year, and I can promise any of you who weren't there that we got LOUD during that final 55 play drive of the Bills. We were loud from the moment they took over on offense with just under 2 minutes to play, and we were loud until Peerless Price caught his 15 yarder in the back of the endzone.

So I better not hear anymore whining about the fans anymore.
The fact that ANYONE was even at the game to support a heartbreaker like the Texans should be proof enough alone to convince you that we have loyal fans.

Never before have I followed a team that hurts as much as this one. And yet I still pay loads of money, invest lots of emotion, and spend a lot of time following them. No one who has posts on this board, no matter their opinion, should be considered a non-fan.
 
I see where you are coming from, but I have a differing view.

Got to my seats, and had some people behind me (folks that I have never seen in my section before) ask me to sit down, as the cheerleaders were coming out for the player introductions. Are you kidding me?? I politely said "no" and briefly explained why. In my section, we stand with the exception of being on offense... D & ST.... They sat on their hands the whole game. It bothered me enough that I went down to the Bull Pen and hung our with my kind....

Point being is that the stadium got loud at points, certainly, BUT, the energy is sucked out of that building with fans like what I have described and the late arrivers...

Just my rant for the day....
 
I was highly dissapointed in my section for sure. Most people were actually sitting down during that last bills drive. WTF?

yep, this is true. We were loud. :redtowel:

And after 5 home games this year, we have come to the conclusion that homefield crowd noise DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR THIS DEFENSE!!!!

It's a waste of time. Our D just does not respond. 3rd and long? Big deal, our D will blow it most of the time. Homefield advantage is reserved for winning teams who can gut check and make plays and respond to the fans' enthusiasm.

But not our team. Suck is the word of the day.

I was standing up yelling on the last play. For that reason I can vent :).
 
I don't mind standing and cheering in times like that last drive, or when big plays occur, but for my tastes, I would prefer to sit and cheer most of the other times. Don't mistake that for passivity however, and there is the crux. I can stomp my feet, yell, clap, etc from a sitting position just as well as standing. And again, I don't mind standing. But, I don't want to stand for every single defensive drive either. I don't mind peering around an overy excited patron in front of me, as long as it's not constant, and he/she is standing during a time of excitment.

OTOH, someone who stands the entire time when most others are sitting is just plain rude to me. I paid for my tickets just like the stander did. Where do these two ideas meet? I'm not sure where your right to stand ends, and my right to see begins?
 
would have been much louder is all the fans would have stayed for the entire game. we had many in our section leaving midway through the 4th quarter. Just crazy, but typical for houston. So I disagree, the fans can be blamed.

I see your point and respect it... When the season ticket holders behind me still made it to the games is when a lot in my section agreed to be "UP on D" and sit while on offense... Thats kinda how we "met the two ideas"...

That's funny because before I was done reading your post, my mind went right to the Texans D on the field, raising their arms to get the crowd noise up and then....big play by Bills, no pressure on the QB, receiver wide open, FIRST DOWN Buffalo.

Freaking frustrating as hell.
 
I did a lot of yelling and cheering, but I have to say.... those two early 80+ yard TD receptions kicked my @$$. I sat the entire 2nd quarter and on into the 3rd until Dunta got that INT TD.

The same thing happened to me. I could not believe someone would ask me to sit down during a Texans' game.

What about fans who can't stand up comfortable? What about fans who have trouble standing for long periods of time? Everyone pays the same amount of money for their tickets, and when its a team like the Texans who don't deserve home field advantage, I have no problem sitting so that others can also enjoy the game

I get it all the time. I'm the guy that is always trying to get the crowd into the game. If you have ever been to game in Indy or KC, from moment the other team walks onto the field their fans start standing and cheering and screaming at the top of their lungs.

I paid for my seat just like the guy in front of me and just like the guys behind me and I can tell you one thing and I will stand and yell when our defense is on the field and try to build a home field advantage for our team.

I have had them call those service reps on me and I have never gotten into trouble and as long as I am a season ticket holder, I will stand!!

I totally respect that. But there are HC areas in and around all levels of the stadium for those folks that need it..

It's a football game, not a social event...

I am waiting for the folks behind me to call service reps. I will defend my position if needed, but somehow, I think Texans brass would prefer those who cheer (including standing up for the D) over those who sit on their hands.

Well, this was a middle aged fellow and did not fall into any of those categories but those types are more than welcome to sit in the designated areas for people with handicaps.
