Next week, current and former NFL stars will be in Houston for four events to raise money for good causes.
April 18 is the First and Ten Youth Minicamp hosted by Texans Andre Johnson, Dunta Robinson and DeMeco Ryans.
More than 300 underprivileged kids ages 7-14 will be at Butler Stadium to learn, among other things, the fundamentals of football, self-improvement skills, leadership and team building.
Also that day is the Celebration of Courage event at Rice Stadium to honor former linebacker O.J. Brigance.
The Ravens director of player development played at Willowridge and was a two-time All-Southwest Conference linebacker with the Owls, won a Grey Cup title in the CFL in 1995 and a Super Bowl ring with Baltimore in 2001.
Brigance was disagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrigs Disease, in 2007. The Owls are planning to use the event to fund an endowed scholarship in Brigances name, support the annual Brigance Courage Award and contribute to his battle against ALS.

Also next week, the three-day, 13th annual Ken Houston Hall of Fame Golf Classic begins. Twenty-three members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame will participate in the event that raises money for Texas Childrens Hospitals Arts in Medicine Program.

Another three-day event is hosted by the Santana Dotson Foundation, which raises money to send kids to college. Dotson is a Houston native who played at Yates and Baylor before going to the NFL.
