I really like Jonathan Taylor at 2.40 but not interested in their defensive lineman at 2.57 I would go with wide receiver Denzel Mims 3.90 Alex Highsmith olb and fourth round Right Guard Robert Hunt.

In their mock, Mims went at 2.53

I look at these sports analyst(s) Mocks and have come to one conclusion:

1. Some of these Mocks look like they are trying to impersonate a foolish and inexperienced OB running the show......or

2. Like many of us, some of them are thinking rationally and not trying to think like OB....based on his other actions as GM and HC.

Meh! Sounds like something OB would do.

Fotu when Lynch is still there?

:coffee:
Fotu is more of an odd man front DL, while Lynch projects to be a 3 tech DT or base DE in a even man front. Apples and oranges, as both are pretty good at what they do.

Which one do you think would best fill the Texans need?

(I'd prefer a WR in that slot.)

Thanks, I didn't get to hear this on Friday. Pretty realistic. I cant see Okudah falling to 39.

For Houston give me

40. Lewis
57. Arnette

What I would really try to do is trade up to 46 for Gladney.

Then draft a LB that can cover in Rd.3 and I would be very happy with this draft.

Adds much needed speed.

Lewis is probably the better all around player vs. Okwara. Okwara may be a pass rush specialist only at this point in his career. But he has what the Texans lack, a pure outside pass rush. He's a twitchy athlete that can force the QB to step up in the pocket and chase down the guys trying to escape. He has that skill the Texans D is sorely lacking.

Lewis is a pretty good pass rusher too.

Lewis would look pretty good in a Rex Ryan type defense that I hope Weaver runs. He's very good at rushing the passer in his own right. But he can also drop into short area zones to cover TE's/WR hooks/crossers. He's very agile. Without his injury history he's probably a top 15 pick.

I like Okwara too because he can really bend around the edge and has speed to close on the QB. Good news is most likely one of Lewis/Okwara should be there at 40 and I think either one of those guys are well worth pick 40.

I am not high on Fotu nor Lynch. I would prefer Davon Hamilton at 4.111 or 5.171

I like Hamilton but like Lynch alot more. He's got juice to his game and his best football is ahead of him. Hamilton reminds me of a poor mans Sam Adams. A very good 10 yr starter. You cant go wrong with that though.

Lynch reminds me of Watt (Light) Why dont you like Fotu?

Fotu just doesn't look stout at the point of attack for NT and not athletic enough as a DE. He just strikes me as kinda bland...not 2nd rd worthy.

I dont think he's 2nd rd worthy either. (Neither is Hamilton. IMHO)

I like him in the 3rd/4th. He's got great size and strength and moves pretty good, he just needs to keep his pad level lower. He stands straight up off of the snap quite often. That's very correctable with proper coaching.

I'm sticking with DT- Jordon Elliott (RD2), OLB- Alton Robinson (RD3), and DE- Nick Coe (RD7) as my 2020 defensive picks. I don't think any of them would be reaches and all should be available in the area of the Texans picks.

I think JE is more than capable of filling the hole left by Reader and imo......could be better from the beginning.

AR should be more than capable of taking over for Scarlett and add another pass rushing threat on the other side.

NC is going to be one of those low risk / high reward players. He's young and has many areas to improve but damn if this guy doesn't possess an NFL body and strength to make noise early in camp if he arrives with a chip on his shoulder. If he's still on the board this late......could be a real find if he performs up to his potential in 2020 or in 2021.

That mock shows Mims being available later than any I can recall. It also shows Fotu being selected earlier than any I've seen. Of course, who wouldn't want Taylor at running back, but I keep coming up with Mims and Fotu .... just to get back to somewhere close to where we were before O'Brien got rid of Hopkins and Reader. Of course, Johnson is supposed to be a HUGE upgrade over Hyde and his mere - 1050 yds rushing .... what a circus !

No CB?

A CB that can step in and play early likey has to be taken in the initial 50 or so picks. So if you pass on a CB at #40, they may be gone by #57. And I could say the same for pass rushers. There are guys to develop later. But you can't expect a lot of these guys to contribute early, especially with no mini camps. So if you miss out on the top 7 or so CBs, try to hit on a 3rd day development guy who may be ready to play in 2021.

I really think Amik Robertso can step in and play slot CB and should be available at 90.

With that said I like RR II even more even if he cant step in and start day 1. By the end of the season RR II will probably be starting if he goes to a team like the Vikings/Colts/NYJ/Las Vegas etc.. The Texans fit in this group.

That's cool

Don’t think OB would take Jonathan Taylor, absolute stud and do everything three down back, fundamentally solid, great vision, intelligence for the game and would require a big 2nd contract.

obviously I’m not spending much time around here, Cal has poisoned his franchise with too much control given to Bill O’Brian without prudent measures of checks and balances.
All that said, last year Josh Jacobs had to be a consideration with 23rd selection overall? Jonathan Taylor would be even higher on my board. He is a proven, more complete back, much more even than David Johnson when he came out.
Too many faults of O’Brian to list but whatever happened to taking BPA?
