Forget about #68 because I'm very confidant we are moving up into ALEAST the second round next month for our first pick.

If they continue acquiring quality depth pieces in free agency at areas where we were sorely lacking I could definitely see them packaging picks to increase their chances at hitting on the biggest area of need left on this team LT.

If Texans think Rankin could be at #68, I could see them waiting until then. From what we've seen so far, signing avg guys for Oline their focus could be on using three picks in first and second in 2019 to be their future guys.

Just to remind folks, the Texans picked up 6th rounder Chris Myers for a 6th. He was a bleh acquisition by most initial opinions. With good coaching, became a pro bowl C. Let's see how these guys play out before concluding they've already shown everything they have.

Accept ..... who was the Texans OL coach back then ?! He's long gone and they haven't grown any talent since ....

Yep,

But Davenport is supposed to step in and be the game 1 starting LT in some members minds around here.

You cant develop the trash Devlin was given last yr. Dont take this as support of Devlin, the jury is still very much out on him. IMHO

With our pickups in free agency to improve our OL, I could see the possibility of giving Watson more weapons, and TE is our biggest need in this regard. If Goedert is there, should we take him? Maycock has him at #2 now, so it's unlikely.

The player I'm looking at is Stanford's Dalton Schultz, who is a very good blocker. Stanford underutilized him in the passing game, but it's reported he has good hands and was efficient in the shorter routes.

He should be there in the third. I'd give him consideration at #80, if not #68. His blocking skills would be a perfect fit for our running game and was a big factor in Stanford's run offense.

Schultz is the perfect replacement for Fiedo as the team’s Y TE. Would help the OTs a great deal in pass pro and be a nice safety valve for Watson. Big target at 6’6”.

Smythe from Notre Dame is another the Texans could target as a "Y" or blocking TE. He's 6'5" and 257 lbs and was also underutilized as a receiver. The Texans will need a good blocking TE to take Fiedorowicz's spot and if they don't get one in FA, and I'm not even sure if there is any left, then look for them to target Schultz, Smythe, Ryan Izzo, or David Wells to fill that "Y" TE need in the Draft.

Can someone help me out with Mason Rudolph?

What am I missing or seeing wrong here?

I think this guy is going to be better than Sam Darnold, yet he's being basically completely ignored as an after thought in all of this QB talk.

He seemed pretty smart when I saw him broken down on the chalk board with Mooch.

He has the numbers and the accuracy proven year in and year out. He has a great TD:INT ratio unlike Sam Darnold.

He's huge, he had solid combine numbers, he comes from a football family.

Is he really a "system only" QB when we just saw Patrick Mahomes traded up for to be drafted in the top 10?

What am I missing?

Help would be appreciated.

I eliminated Smythe from consideration because of his history of knee and shoulder injuries.

In all honesty, I don't think you missed a thing. I've been perplexed by the ignoring of Rudolph. I wouldn't be shocked at all if the Patriots made a play for Rudolph should he still be on the board when their pick rolls around. I think Brady has a year, maybe two left in his football body and if there was ever going to be a time to be drafted by the Patriots, this is going to be the draft. I think Brady would truly take whoever the team drafts at QB under his wing and give him a proper tutoring knowing he'll be passing the baton to this guy.

If Mason were to roll into RD3 and the 4th pick....Texans could be in a great position to deal the pick for a decent haul in return.
